Back Again - Another lump almost one year to date

Last year went through the found lump, mammo, mammo, US, core biopsy, and lumpectomy. All in the month of December.

I found a lump in the same breast last week. Of course, I waited... you know... maybe it will go away. Called my GYN on Monday who said I needed to see the breast specialist from last year so I go tomorrow. My GYN offered to let me come in and have mammo and US on Monday but said I would still need to see BS so I said I would just wait. There is definitely a lump and almost in the exact same place as last year.

Last year I found a group that was all waiting together..... anything like that this year?

I had a somewhat similar situation, but mine turned out to be a local recurrence of my original IDC. I hope that's not the case for you.

My recurrence was dismissed as "fat necrosis" for months and spread to two lymph nodes while we "watched it."

One word of advice - advocate for a biopsy if you're not convinced. A biopsy is the only way to know for sure. Best wishes and please keep us posted.

I'm not waiting anymore, I had my mammo-ultrasound-finding lump-mri-contrast enhanced spectral mammo-lumpectomy via hook localization-benign histology back in mid June-mid July 2018 and my first post lumpectomy follow up ultrasound one month ago. I would like to ask you, if you don't mind sharing of course (even in a private message), what were your histology's results. Mine was adenosis, apocrine metaplasia, cysts, ductal epithelial hyperplasia of the usual type and calcifications. My breast surgeon (who's also an obstetrician specialized in breast surgery) told me that had this lesion gone undetected for a bit longer, it would have progressed to some sort of cancer. It goes without saying that the chance of a recurrence of some sort still haunts me and you're the first post I've come across here in this site of a benign histology followed by a new finding a year later. Hoping that I didn't make you feel uncomfortable with my query, I'm sending you wholehearted wishes for a benign outcome yet once more!

So my histology from last year was fibrocystic. I went yesterday to dr. She said it felt like scar tissue to her. She did ultrasound in her office. I asked how could it be scar tissue from last year that I just now feel. She said it’s possible. She then sent me to women’s diagnostic center. I had 3D mammo. Radiologist decided he wanted an ultrasound. So had ultrasound there also. Today nurse called and said mammo was normal. She left a message so I didn’t get to ask any questions and I don’t have a return appointment.

Great news! But, yes! My breast surgeon also mentioned during our 4-month-post-operative-follow-up session 10 days ago that changes in the images of the lumpectomy breast will still be present for at least one more year, but I somehow eradicated this info from my mind when I read your post (lol) and fear got yet once more the best of me!

Buttons, I followed you here from another post and want to echo your remarks that “a biopsy is the ONLY way to know for sure”. I found a lump during a self exam which was not seen via mammogram. They did an ultrasound and determined it to be a fibroadenoma so I was scheduled for a 6 month follow up. At that time they scheduled the biopsy and the tumor was grade IIIA at time of surgery. I also should add that from what I understand such lumps are usually not cancerous. So, the decision to watch is generally a good way to approach it. I still think i would push for a biopsy knowing what I know now.

I really think after a year I wouldn’t have changes. But then...I’m just the patient. I guess I will wait and see at this point. I do have my yearly with my gyn coming up and will ask if I should get a 2nd opinio
