Thanks for the info Raysal & Pebbles. I see the oncologist on Friday and will discuss treatment then. She's mentioned the oncotype dx before so im hoping she has news for me.
This week is going well. Got 2 drains removed yesterday, hoping remaining 2 come out tomorrow. Also getting my 1st TE fill. Drs say im healing beautifully.
Sending healing vibes to everyone.

Raysal - I'm sure the delay was the Thanksgiving holiday. Usual turnaround is 10 BUSINESS DAYS, not 10 actual days, so with the Thanksgiving break that's probably why this one is taking longer, but I think you should have the results this week!
Oya80 - That's good news that your doc is already thinking towards the Oncotype and glad you're healing well!
As for me, I'm through 21 out of 30 radiation sessions... 9 to go! I seem to be faring pretty well, skin feels the same so far. Let's hope it holds up!

Hi Pebblesv, I started Tamoxifen two weeks after radiation. MO said I could not start earlier than that. I had also started Zoladex at the same time as radiation, every 3 months I will get the Zoladex shot.
Hugs

hello to all....I have been stalking these forums for a few months, but this is my first post. First of all, it is so comforting to know I'm not alone in this battle. I am 43 and diagnosed in October. The end of last month I underwent a Left modified radical mastectomy and port placement. Thursday was my post OP visit and I think I finally have all the treatment puzzle pieces. My tumor was 3.2cm, margins were clear and 13/13lymph nodes were negative. I was so happy when I heard that. My tumor was grade 2, er +, pr- and HER2 +. The negative nodes let me get out of radiation, but my positive her2 status buys me 6mo to 1 year of chemo + targeted herceptin.
While reading this thread I didnt notice any others with HER2+? I'm currently healing from surgery and will begin chemo in a couple weeks. The closer it gets, the more anxious I become, and until my bc diagnosis, have had very little anxiety. Reading, and now posting here has helped quite a bit. Thank you
I was wondering if anyone has any input on genetic tests? I am brca -, however I tested positive for the atm gene, which is high risk for female breast ca. I have no family history of bc, but I have suggested my sister get gene tested, she is 39.
Thank you again.

Another 30’s survivor! I was actually diagnosed at 29 two years ago.

10418dn, welcome here. Indeed you will find a lot of support and information on this platform. It's certainly helped me a whole lot. I was diagnosed in June at age 39. With time and once your plan is clear it gets a little easier.
I did the BRCA test which can back negative. But I wasn't aware of ATM. Will read up on it and request further testing.
Sending hugs your way!

Hi Palesa - good to know and thanks for the detail! When I meet with my doc, I'll definitely mention that as I feel like I should wait at least a couple weeks after radiation before starting too.
10418dn - welcome to the forums and your first post! You and I are the exact same age and diagnosed at very similar times (I was diagnosed one month before you in September. Congrats on the negative lymph nodes too along with clear margins, that's such great news for you. When I thought I needed chemo, I found this great topic on chemo from a girl who went through chemo with little to no side effects (and she kept her hair!), so I thought this might be encouraging / helpful for you as you prepare for chemo? It's here: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/69/topics...
Regarding genetic tests, I remember hearing a statistic that only 8% of the bc's are actually from hereditary / genetic reasons. There are so many of us on the boards that have no history of bc and then it just happened. My genetic tests all came out negative, and we only know of my Grandfather (yes, a guy!) on my mom's side who had bc very late into his 80's - other than him there's no family history. Interestingly enough, back in the day, they treated his bc (radiation then tamoxifen, no chemo) the same way they are treating mine, so it seems I got the same type of bc that he had. Anyways, he beat it - it never came back for him, so that's encouraging.
stephilosophy - hurrah for being 2 years cancer free! Thank you for chiming in. How has tamoxifen been for you? I'm supposed to start taking it soon and pretty wary about it.
Hugs to everyone here! As for me, I'm 24 out of 25 'full breast and ancillary node' radiation sessions done, then have 5 more 'localized to the tumor spot' boost sessions to go. I'm actually OK! The drive is a pain but I'm able to go at a less traffic-y time and catching up on phone calls or work calls during the commute, so it's not so bad, although I won't miss having to make that long drive every day. I will actually miss working from home, when I'm done with radiation, I go back into the office. My skin has been fine amazingly and I hope it stays that way through the rest of the sessions. The radiation therapists even commented that my skin was holding up amazingly well given what they see. And this little pup (Domino!) has been coming with me and made the commute so much better, keeping me company, and they now call her "The Domino Effect" at the hospital because she has such a positive effect on everyone there! Here she is before and after a haircut:
