There are so many new names on the boards. I was just wondering how many of my old (not age wise!!) '03ers still check in. How are you all? What's new?

I've been fine. We have a vacation coming up and are heading to the FL keys. Boy, does that sound good today. It is VERY cold and windy out there.

Hope everyone is doing well. To any newbies reading this - there IS life after cancer. You can get through it to the other side!

Take care,

Barb

Hi Kyle, Isabella, Lilia! Good to see some old familiar names. Kyle, I hope you find out soon that your lump is nothing. Are you having it looked at?

I haven't been to anymore NYC get togethers. I think some of the ladies met in Woodstock, but we weren't able to attend.

Keep us informed about your lump.

Class of 2003 here.....good to see the ole familiar names.
I was dx Oct 2001 though.......so far, so good.

Next hurdle is going to be coming off aromasin in July...believe it or not,Joan, I wanted to stay on it for longer but onc says no (will have had total of 5 years of endocrine therapy then)......It will be scary when there is no more 'safety net'.....

    Hugs,

Still splashing around (Jan 03). As long as Physical therapy
keeps me moving in very warm water I can keep chugging along
and I can't fall in a pool! Things are getting better and I'm much less of a space cadet. (Arlette's name for me)

I hope you leave for FL before the snow hits. Have fun.
    How is the puppy doing?

    Be well,

Hey Barb, what a great idea! I'm glad you started this. I still check back now and then, but not as often as before.

Since my diagnosis in March of 03, one of my sons graduated high school...only 3 more to go.

I'm keeping busy with the kids and work, but think about bc everyday. Probably because I have to take the Arimidex daily. Have any of you gone by one day without thinking about bc?

Having serious Spring Fever. I just started a thread in the Moving beyond Cancer. Remember that great thread we had with everyone gardens, went looking for it, but can't find it.

You gals are great! You were always here for me!

    Hi Barb,
Just the other day noticing I'm one of a few from 03. I've moved beyond but work on my computer all day and check in for newbies and those we care about.
We just got back from Disney with my boys and have started skiing as a family. I used to ski years ago and it has been so much fun.
I have stopped worying about if and when. Live in the moment and it works for me quite well.
    HUGS to all.

Hi everyone! Good to see you all. Kimmy - you keep on kicking that cancer, right in its butt!

Joan, Sam, we are the class about to go off AI or Tamox. I've was on Tamox for 1 year and Femara for 2 and 1/2 years. My onc isn't sure how long he'll keep me on Femara. It doesn't bother me too much - so I'll stick with it as long as I can.

Susie!! Hi!! Buddy is still working at trying to be the alpha dog and I'm working at teaching him I'M the alpha dog. He's a little stinker - but very cute.

Patti, I'm sorry you are having back problems. That can be so painful. I hope they can help you.

Hi Aggie and Michelle, good to hear from you. Michelle your "success stories " thread is still a big hit!

We leave Friday. My husband is a scuba diver so he'll do that. My 13 year old daughter and I will do other beachy stuff. Our older kids don't come with us anymore. They are both working. My daughter, Sadie, who had the melanoma is working for the American Cancer Society. She helps colleges set up their Relay for Life events.

    Take care everyone. Enjoy!

Patti, Maybe we could have a virtual reunion. Everyone buy their favorite snack and pour a glass of wine and toast each other. We could set up a time.

    Barb and All:
Another '03 "grad" here. It is really so nice to see the "old" familiar names. All is going well. I've had a knee replacement and 3 grandchildren since my dx in May 2003 - so life is good. I'm happy we keep in touch this way because those were pretty frightening days and we were all there to support one another!!!
Love to all of you - and God's blessings,
    Pat (pconn03)

Hi Pat! Good to hear from you! Congratulations on the grandchildren!! That's wonderful news.

Patti, I email sometimes with Rose. She was well the last time we "talked". I also heard from Flashdif and Nancy and Gloria. They all are doing great. Gloria has a new job she loves with the Make-A-Wish foundation.

If I can be so self centered - can I suggest February 28th for our virtual get together? That's the day I started my battle, with my first chemo.......4 years ago! Is the 28th a Wednesday this year?

Aug 2003 for me. Going for check up with rads onc on Wednesday.

Lost my cat after 19.5 years in December. Already have a new cat, Persephone, who is 1 years old, and Phydeaux, a 3-month-old boxer puppy. the house was way too quiet for me, but I do occasionally question my sanity over getting a puppy. LOL

Went to San Antonio last month for a long delayed honeymoon. (That was to be our honeymoon destination 22 years ago, but 12 inches of snow put a crimp in that plan.) We'll be going to Florida in May. And need to go visit family in Texas sometime this year.

    Good to see everyone.

hello '03-ers! barb, i think a virtual get-together would be fun. we could even probably take the chat room that is empty, like we did for sprite's tribute... or come here.... although it would be really nice to get together in person again too.

life here since we started - one child graduated college and moved away, one is a senior in hs....i am in the process of selling my house and just moved into an apartment the day before yesterday... (downsizing has been hard..but got that internet hooked up quick ).

patti - the worst thing was, i had to give up my gardens

aside from a couple of the usual scares we all go through, things have been OK.

still hear from a few of the old crowd via email...we did a few more lunches and met some great people - am very in touch with lorac and got a card from marinza over the holidays!

it's nice to stay connected with you all

    Hi Everyone,

How nice to get re-connected. The first gathering we attended was in Cold Spring, NY. I still look at those pictures of our luncheon and the gift exchange. And it would be wonderful to get together again...but virtually is good too.

We're fine. The usual scares come and thankfully, go! We're involved with our kids and grands and soon will have a new one from Korea. And we're heeding my onc's advice..."Don't postpone your dreams. Do it now!" So we're off to Belgium and Holland next month and to England in July.

See you at the party on the 28th!

    love to all,

    Carol

I just posted to say hi and then I saw this. I'm October 2003. Doing great. Sam is almost 4 and I'm healthy and happy. Active in a local breast cancer organization focused on young women. Still on tamoxifen and still battling the weight. Also working on getting a gestational carrier for the embryos that I froze before chemo.

Glad to see some familiar faces.

    Hugs,

    Joan-

Great to see you too! Thank you. I think he's quite cute too (especially when he sleeps all the way through the night). A story only you ladies will appreciate. We were leaving daycare and Sam was showing the regional daycare director (male) a cut on his finger and the regional director told Sam that he had a boo-boo too. So they're comparing boo-boos and Sam blurts out "my mommy had a big boo-boo there" and points to my boobs. I think the color my face turned is somewhere between cranberry and maroon.

Out of the mouths of babes.
