Antibiotics while starting chemo

I’m due to start chemo on Friday, but I’ve recently been sick. At first I though I had just a regular cold but I think it might be a bacterial infection which has moved to my chest. I’m not able to see my general practicioner until Tuesday.

Do anyone have any experience on if I need antibiotics will this push back chemo? If it is just viral, will they let me start chemo still?

I think it wouldn't have to do with the antibiotics so much as with actually being sick. Chemo will wipe out your immunity so they don't want you to be ill because when your neutrophils go down, a minor infection can be extremely dangerous. I'd call your MO's office on Monday to give them a heads up & they might have some other suggestions for you.

I agree, it’s likely to delay chemo and it’s probably for the best

I figured as much. I’m just ready to get started. I was originally supposed to start on 10/30 but it was pushed back because I did fertility treatment. The timing of fertility treatment ending was Thanksgiving week so my MO allowed me to push it to 11/30. Now that I got sick I’m potnot starting chemo 5-6 weeks until after I was originally supposed to. The stress of just waiting is a lot. I just want to be done.

I had an infection in my port and still received chemo along with antibiotics. I think it depends. My blood work was good so they did not want to delay my chemo.
