    Hi Tagevans,

We know things can seem overwhelming right now, as you try and put the pieces of your diagnosis together. We're all here for you and hope to help you make sense of all of this!

While you wait for the support of others here, you may be interested in checking out the main Breastcancer.org site's Your Breast Cancer Diagnosis section, which explains all of the pieces of your pathology report and what they mean for you. For starters, you can read about your hormone receptor status and HER2 status, and the treatment options for each.

We hope this helps and we are here to help answer any more questions you have. Keep coming back and get the support you need!

It's so hard waiting for the doctors appointments! There is a ton of good information on this site. I also really liked this site: https://breast-cancer.ca

It looks silly (with the moose) but I found the explanations to be both thorough and accessible.

I don't know that much and you didn't really ask a question, but in case it's helpful, this is my understanding?

ER+ means that you will almost certainly get prescribed something to suppress estrogen (probably tamoxifen if you are premenstrual, AI if post). You take it long term to reduce the likelihood of that kind of cancer coming back. Now they are saying 10 years.

ER+ HER- means that there's a chance you may not have to do chemo. At least that's my understanding, that basically everyone with HER+ or with triple negative gets chemo. But if you are hormone receptor positive, then depending on the characteristics of your tumor, you may or may not be recommended chemo. That may be a pretty long wait to know for sure - for me it was the very last piece of the puzzle after the surgery.

What kind of oncologist are you meeting next week, do you know if it's a medical oncologist or breast surgeon? Do you know anything more about the size/grade of your tumor?

I don't know a whole lot about it until I meet with breast surgeon to get MRI results back. I did have ultrasound and it shows 2 tumors in my left breast. One is 2cm and the other is 4.5cm but after being examined by oncologist and surgeon they kinda believe it's not two but one huge tumor. The surgeon did say he wanted me to have chemo to shrink it plus it has spread into my lymph nodes and that one is pretty big and and sore also. Oh yeah......grade 3

It sounds like you have a really good team on the job. That's so important.

There is a lot of good community, support, and information here. If you find an old thread that seems relevant to your situation or questions, you can post on it and it will come to the top again, so people will see it even though it may have been dormant for a while.

Tagevans, there is already a thread about your genotype on this site that you might want to check out (see link below). There are a bunch of us with your genotype. Feel free to join the conversation and ask questions or PM us. We're there to help, if we can!
