Hi! I'm not sure if I should post here or if this is for people diagnosed with ILC but was hoping for some insight.

My story starts in the beginning of July. I started having a feeling of "let down" in my left breast, like when you breastfeed. I haven't breastfeed in over 4 years, but the feeling was so distinct and so strong I swore I would be leaking when I check but to my surprise nothing. This kept happening over the weeks to come and eventually started happening everyday. I had an annual appointment coming up so I figured I would just bring it up then. In the time before my appointment the left breast started to shrink and ache. When I saw my OBGYN she told me it could all be hormonal and go just watch it and if any changes let her know. I felt I was brushed off about the shrinkage.

I waited a whole month. I paid close attention and tracked the symptoms along with the menstrual cycle and noticed it was not related. On Monday Oct. 9th I called my OBGYN because I woke up and my left breast had a burning sensation and I had pain and burning in my underarm. The burning felt like it was coming from the inside. No swelling. No redness. At this point I felt my breast had shrunk a little more since I had last saw her. I got an appointment that afternoon. When I saw her she referred me to a Breast Cancer specialist the following Tuesday Oct. 16. In the week I waited my left breast continued to shrink and I had changes to my nipple. On the Monday before I went the specialist I had some thick yellow discharge and lots of burning.

When I saw the specialist she did a mammogram and ultrasound and told me I have Dutal Ectasia and Intraductual Papilloma. We talked about surgery to remove the obstructed duct but she thinks I should wait and go back 3 months. She also dismissed my concern on the breast shrinking just said that "everyone has one breast bigger than the other" which I am aware of, but this is completely different. This is a significant change in size. She never addressed the burning and only said that's why I feel the "let down" sensation.

After coming back to the office I work at the doctor here asked how it went and when I told him he said I should had an MRI and Biopsy.

I am only 25. My question is should o have the MRI done? Could this just be what the specialist said or could it be more?

    Hi,

All papillomas should be excised and biopsed. 80% are benign but 20% can hide bc, in situ or invasive, and also could be a precursor of bc in the future.

I had two benign papillomas removed (one with small flat epithelial atypia and the other completely benign)

    Good luck

Regarding the breast that is shrinking: is it also getting firmer? Less mobile? Any visible changes or thickening of the skin that you can tell?

If you have noticed these changes along with the decrease in size, tell your docs.
