So after having some weird bug bite looking itchy spot that came and faded each month for 3 months, this month Ive been having a ton of breast pain. Primarily on L side some on R. Both primarily in the side/underarm region.

I went to my NP as I have never had breast pain. Its aching, comes and goes, and felt lots of lumps.

I explained to her all my concerns and symptoms. She said your young fibrous breasts are normal but agreed in general very lumpy due to potential cysts/fibrocystic texture.

She did find one small spot on L breast she was quite sure was nothing but because of all the lumps and what not she has referred me for an ultrasound. Im 29, no history of any cancer in my family, but barely sleeping due to nerves.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I'm also getting an ultrasound. It is scheduled for Dec 11. I'm 26 and This is my first experience myself. Although I cared for my mother and went through the entire testing, diagnosing and treatment process with her last year. I'm replying not because I have answers but I want to hold your hand because Im scared too.

There is a long history of doctors ignoring symptoms in younger women because the chances of cancer were so low. That was nice for the vast majority of women whose symptoms really weren't cancer, but catastrophic and infuriating for the tiny minority of those women who really did have cancer.

I'm saying this to hopefully be of comfort.

It is *still* true that cancer is very very rare for young women, and the probability is that what you have is NOT cancer. But you have a good doctor who is learning from the past and sending you for screening. That is definitely aggravating for your current mental peace, but the good news is that if it is something, it will be caught early and you will be in a much better situation than if it were dismissed now (and you felt better for a while) but it turned out to be something down the road much later and more dangerous.

So - probably nothing! But if it is something - caught early!

Take care of yourself. Try all the usual self-soothing things - exercise, distractions, work, baths, whatever works for you. If it's too much, don't be embarrassed to ask your doctor for something for the anxiety. Come chat to people here or to your friends. The waiting is hard. Hang in there.
