9 years out from DCIS diagnosis and having breast pain

I was diagnosed with DCIS in 2009. I had lumpectomy, radiation and 5 years of Tamoxifen. All yearly mammograms have been fine.

Now about a month ago I started having pain in that breast particularly when laying down or in recliner. It’s gotten worse though not horrible. The soreness has extended into my side.

Of course having had breast cancer you always assume the worst.

I’m struggling to decide what to do. My next mammogram is scheduled for February 2019.

better safe than sorry. Can you possibly move up your next appointment? Wishing you B9 results. When was your last mammogram?

My MO wants to investigate symptoms that last for 6 weeks. Kind of her cut off. I agree with Rrobin0200, can you move up your mammogram appointment and perhaps include a consult with the imagining? That way you will get the information you need. Hoping that it is only one of the strange phantom pains we all deal with.

If you never had breast cancer and you were having pain in your breast, would you go see a doctor?

(ok, maybe not, because as women we often have years of experience of having our pain and symptoms minimized and dismissed by the medical system, but apart from that...)

Yes, you are having consistent symptoms that are impacting your quality of life. You should see your doctor. And if she thinks it's not cancer related (and hopefully it's not), you should see another doctor whose field it is related to.

    Take care! Good luck!

Any change should be evaluated; get it checked!
