I’m a 12 year breast cancer survivor (stage II). Mastectomy, chemo, radiation. The side I have left has been hard and sore for a while. I thought maybe it was the bra I was wearing and stopped, but the soreness is still there. No redness, lumps, discharge, etc. My last mammo and breast ultrasound was in May. My mammos (and ultrasounds) have come back normal for 12 years. I have a call in to my oncologist, but I am freaking out right now. I talked to the PA here at our clinic and he said that he saw a case like this and the woman had a fast growing cancer!! He didn’t see me.. he told me this over the phone. I am panicking...:

Oh Kim, I'm so sorry. That physicians' assistant was way out of line! As you know, a recurrence is pretty rare, and breast cancer can only be diagnosed by a competent oncologist. It's great news that your last US was clear, and I'm hoping you get benign news soon. Push for additional imaging if you feel you need it, and breathe. We're here to help.
