Any advice from those that have been through this?

I’m claustrophobic so will be taking Xanax, I have my usual post biopsy clothing packed...sigh...sad that I can say “usual post biopsy clothing”...

How painful is the procedure? Recovery? Tips for making it less awful? Hoping to be 100% by Thanksgiving as I’m supposed to be traveling (procedure is tomorrow).

Thanks, and hugs to all reading this.

hi, I had an MRI guided biopsy on my breast last month. I was face down throughout the procedure and couldn't see anything. My face was in a covered donut.

It took about 20 minutes or so in the machine. Loud mri sounds but I didn't feel the ultimate biopsy.

Get comrtable brefore they move you into the MRI tunnel, because it's imortant that you cannot move while they are doing the procedure. If you move, they have to start over, is what I was told.

The only painful part for me was after the mri, when the nurse had to ice down my breast fior 30 minutes with rocky boulders of ice to stop the bleeding. Very painful. I did think there was a better way to do that.

The biopsy “needle" or whatever they call it, is wider than the ultrasound biopsy needle I also had done. I still see some bruising from the mri guided biopsy and it's been a month. Not my favorite thing since this all happened to me, but I got thru it.

Best wishes and I hope this isn't too much more than you wanted to hear

Well, I made it. It was a little bit painful but not horrible. I took a nice big dose of Xanax and managed to stay calm and still. Glad it’s over!

Glad you made it! Now the icky part waiting for results. Luckily (?) enough I was too freaked out about the MRI biopsy procedure to even think about the results! When they called, I was like, oh yeah, probably should have been worried about that. But I wasn't.

Oh, and I was going to say meds. Sounds like you already had that part covered. Smart!
