Frustrated and emotional

Tomorrow will be one week since my double bilateral mastectomy. Today I saw my surgeon and had my drains removed. I really felt I was doing so much better Saturday and Sunday, I haven't used anymore narcotics in 48 hours as the pain is kept under control with extra strength Tylenol. What has been upsetting for me is the off and on nausea I keep having and the extreme fatigue that seemed to hit me out of nowhere. Today was the first time since surgery I've styled my very short hair and put on makeup ( for the post op app) no joke, it completely exhausted me doing this. The surgeon recommended getting an inexpensive sports bra that buttons or zips up the front, hubby took me to Walmart and just doing a little walking around ( felt so good to get out of the house) ended up making the nausea worse and I just wanted to sleep on the five minute ride home. Is this normal? My blood was all checked before leaving the hospital, I was concerned about low iron and everything came back normal. I'm emotional and crying over junk. I don't want to sleep much during the day because then I cannot sleep at night. The surgeon said they could put me on something for the nausea, I decided to wait and try some natural remedies, they gave me meds after surgery for nausea and it caused blurry vision which the doctor said was a side effect. I thank anyone in advance who replies, just feeling so emotional that this will be my new normal:

I'm three weeks post op on Wednesday, and in the last week having my own battles with nausea, lack of interest in food, etc. If you read through my earlier posts, I think you'll find you are very much not alone. Hang in there - and reach out any time needed.

I don't remember having nausea per se, but I definitely didn't have much of an appetite. I lost quite a bit of weight after surgery. I also was super emotional. There must be some kind of hormonal connection because it almost reminded me of post partum blues. I was really distraught a few times.

Be nice to yourself. Try not to believe that you should "be" any particular way at all. It's a LOT to go through. It will get better. Breathe!

I was nauseous from anesthesia for more than a week, then from all the other meds, for ages. Major surgery totally disrupts your whole body. If you had chemo first like me , food tastes so weird, and that goes on for a while! I couldn't stand anything sweet for months, even fruit. Couldn't eat chocolate for a year!😲Even water tasted nasty. After all my surgeries, all i can eat is saltine crackers, and water with lemon and ice. Remember your body is busy night and day, healing the many layers of abused flesh. No wonder youre tired!! Rest when needed but try to move , walk etc so you dont stiffen up even more! I feel you girls! Day by day it gets better, honest!πŸ˜šπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ
