Hi all. I noticed a lump deep into my breast underneath when pushed in and it was extremely painful when touched. I did freak out but I left it and then a few months later it started aching, around ovulation, around my period and after. I went to my GP and she pretty much dismissed me saying with no family history, and being 25 I couldn’t get breast cancer and then added breast cancer doesn’t hurt. Her dismissal and ignorance really bothered me, and it played on my mind for another few months. I am aware statistically speaking it’s rare for women under 30 to get breast cancer and for it to cause pain, but it still happens.

I went to another doctor 2 weeks ago and explained and she had a feel. She instantly felt my lump/s and said she would send me in for an US to reassure me.

Fast forward to yesterday and I had the ultrasound. I got a student and she said she would scan then get someone to have a look at the images and if they were happy that would be it, if he wanted to look at something or double check something he would come in and do some of the scanning.

She scanned and I noiteced where the breast pain was wrote - ROI. I googled it and it means region of interest, which indicates to me there is a growth. She scanned and left. Came back in with him, he looked at the area where I have the lump and asked where the pain was. Then he’s looked around and then left.

I’m just anxious from all of that and knowing they possibly have found something. Im getting this burning pain my my shoulder blade, same side as my breast lump and it’s just making me anxious something is there, and causing this pain?

I go for results tomorrow but I just wanted to come on here for a little bit of support as I’ve just been a nervous wreck as I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old.

Hi rhk...Sorry your so scared. Don't EVER let the doctors dismiss you. Push until you get all the tests. I went to the dr 2 years ago (I was 29) and they dismissed me saying I was too young. Well now I am stage 3c at age 31. I also have 3 small children, so I understand the worry and anxiety surrounding this!

I hope your results are negative for cancer, but don't hesitate to push for a biopsy or further imaging if you feel it is necessary! Even if it will just calm your nerves, push for more! I wish I had when I went 2 years ago, then maybe I wouldn't be going through chemo right now....

ROI doesn't necessarily mean that there's a growth. It could just be that the tech marked that specific area as the one you mentioned having pain in (if you mentioned it to any of your doctors, it was probably jotted down in your file or in the ultrasound order). Both times I've had ultrasounds done, the radiologist has came in to double-check the techs work and to try to figure out why they have yet to visualize this lump that they could all physically feel.

I hope everything comes back normal for you - but also that you find the cause for the pain.
