Bandwoman, I love the mauve picture with the birds. Beautiful!
-
Thank you Lisa and Aussie. I have been in an ongoing photo competition with a neighboring county forest preserve and I submitted these three pics and two previous ones. We are allowed five submissions per month and it has to be taken in their forest preserves. I received honorable mention in Sept. I have not posted that pic. I am trying to mix things up as much as possible as you never know what they might pic. The nice thing is they post everyone's submission on their Flickr site so you can see what others post. There are many good photographers and they love bird photography which I have only dabbled in so I hope to get more experience with that. You are not allowed to edit the photos much. They do allow filters and minor things.
It was good to get out!

Right in my back yard tree today. This hawk was HUGE.
Okay, hon, a little more to the right. LOL
-
Thanks Joanne. The hawk was resting just above my bird feeder. Needless to say there were NO birds anywhere to be seen. This hawk was so huge to these little finches that they would have been only a little snack before dinner!
-
I listen to Bird Note on the radio every morning. A few days ago they described a little bird who has learned to sound like a hawk. After a few cries, no one bothers it because they're afraid for themselves. Their website is birdnote.org.

How interesting! I will have to check that out Wren.

Beautiful pics bandwoman!
Here's a couple of the sky the other night
The weather has been so crazy in OH lately!
-
Thank you Warrior. The sky with clouds always makes for some beautiful pics.
Joanne, great pics of those raindrops. LOL I can tell those trees are beautiful. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate.
Yesterday we had a perfect fall day and I was able to get to our local Arboretum for some fall pics. Will share later.

Here are some fall foliage pics from the Arboretum yesterday.

Beautiful!
-
Thank you Aussie. Are you a cat lover? Just curious as I really am.
Nancy

Such beautiful fall colors!!

Bandwoman1234, I find cats adorable to look at but I'm allergic to them so I can't get too close most of the time. My username is because my real name is Cathy and I'm from Australia.
-
Thanks Cathy. I am guessing you are in your spring time now. Is that right?
Lisa, love those cheery flowers. We are expecting snow in a few days. Ugh. So the flowers are about gone. We are getting a spectacular fall show in the trees this year.
-
Thanks, bandwoman1234. I'm in my late 40s but I'm not sure if that's spring time or not. What age do you think spring time is?
-
Cathy, oh my goodness. I wasn't asking your age. I meant literally IN AUSTRAILIA is it springtime as I think I remember another lady on this thread from there talking about your seasons are opposite ours in the States. I would never ask your age. I am in the winter of my life. LOL I am in my almost late 60's. My name is Nancy. I am a retired band director..........hence my username. Sorry for the confusion. I did give me a laugh though.
-
bandwoman1234, LOL, sorry I misunderstood. Yes it is spring time here. Our summer officially starts on 1st December but it probably won't get very hot till late December. It was 34C (93F) on Thursday and that was the hottest day here since March. Melbourne weather is unpredictable. Every year they say it's going to be a hot summer and it often is.
-
Monarchs are still hanging around our yard...
-
Wow Lisa, what a treat to have them still around. Nice colorful pic.
-
SoCalLisa, great photo!
-
-
Lisa, that is a pretty flower. What is it? Part of it looks like a type of orchid.
Now I know why there was such a flurry of activity with our squirrels pretty early this year. They knew this snow was coming early apparently. We had our first measurable snow today.
-
Love it.
-
bandwoman, that's such an adorable photo of a squirrel!! We don't have them in Australia.
-
Thanks ladies. They are adorable until they end up eating the majority of my bird seed from my feeders then maybe not so much! This one was not taken in my yard though.

Honoring all of our US veterans today. Thank to Lisa and her husband for their service.
