Abdominal mass - please anyone give me reassurance!
I found a lump in my upper right abdomen a week ago. No pain, no symptoms of any kind. I fought the urge to run to my onc and went to my family doctor, who was great and got me an ultrasound quickly. The ultrasound only says it's not a simple cyst or typical lipoma, and it is probably solid. The radiologist recommended a needle biopsy and I have one scheduled in two and a half days.
I am TERRIFIED. I have two small children and I'm a stay at home mom. I literally have no clue how they would be cared for if I died. My husband is very loving and fun but relies heavily on me as far as caring for our little ones.
I did a search here in this forum topic and found a couple other threads by women who experienced an abdominal mass, but didn't see any follow up on what it turned out to be.
PLEASE can anyone give me something to hope for? Anything? Maybe I've grown an extra organ, maybe it's some sort of scarring or something from my DIEP reconstructive surgery? An alien baby? I just need something better to focus my mind on then mets.

I just wanted to offer a big virtual hug. I do not know too much about the possible causes and such, and it would all just be speculation, but I do know how horribly excrutiating the wait is. Hoping you get results very soon.....and that they are benign. Keep us posted.

Did your ultrasound offer anything more, like where it is located? The gallbladder is also on the right side..could it be huge gallstone that hasn't obstructed the bile-duct so no pain?
I could list all the things it could be, but sometimes it is best to wait and see what real docs tell you. It could be a lipoma or a cyst (there are solid cysts). Sending good thoughts and let us know what you discover.

Thanks for the support ladies. and wallycat the US offered minimal details. No location mentioned, no organs mentioned. It's so mysterious. I sure hope I don't have to wait long to find out the results of tomorrow's biopsy.

Good luck Christina. I would beg them tomorrow to tell you something this week, and not to keep you waiting over the weekend -the wait is agonizing. I also have kids and I am triple positive too. I understand you are terrified. Hopefully is not a cancer recurrence. Wish you best and will be thinking of you.

The squeaky wheel get the grease. Call each day to see if results are in.

Hi Christina
In case this helps...particularly as we both had a similar diagnosis at the same time...
I had a mass exactly where you described. Turned out to be the edge of a floating right rib - totally benign.
Hoping for the same for you!
Alice

Thanks for the continued support ladies. Reading this and knowing you all understand is such a help. Others don't get it. And Alice, what a crazy thing, a floating rib! I hope I find out this is something equally innocent sounding.
I had the biopsy today and it went well. The lump isn't far down and they encouraged me to just get local anesthetic and no sedation. And that worked great. I felt the pinches of all three samples they took - ouch! - but it was fast and like a bee sting and then I didn't have to deal with feeling groggy after. I have only had minor achiness and tenderness. My arm is more sore from the IV they started (but never even used).
We were told the results will be in Thursday or Friday. I feel calmer knowing this part is done, but I know the waiting is always what makes me stressed. Hopefully I can keep busy tomorrow and the time will pass quickly.

Try to be distracted tomorrow. I would get a workout, a walk outdoors, go for a movie and get ice cream. Time will pass quickly.

Great news! My doctor called and said that the biopsy showed all scar tissue. I am SO relieved!!! It seems odd that it's appeared now but oh well! He said as long as it's not bothering me, he would recommend leaving it alone. Sounds good to me!!!
Thank you all again for the support through this!!! Breast cancer is a terrible thing - it's never really gone it seems, it just hides in the shadows waiting...

Exciting! So glad you can forget about this and enjoy Thanksgiving!

So happy for you, Christina.
