Trouble Getting Pain Meds

Is anybody else having trouble getting their opioid pain meds prescriptions filled?

For the past two months, my pharmacy hasn't had enough Oxycontin on hand to give me a full fill. This month, they couldn't even do a full fill two times in a row, so to complete the month, I'll have to get a totally new prescription from my doctor.

I know that we need controls on opioid pain meds because 200 people a day are dying from overdoses, but I am worried about access for cancer patients and people with huge chronic pain.

    I have noticed this as well. The pharmacy has had to call around to find one that can fill for me all at one time. Scary for people like us!! I don’t know the answer to the street drug problems, but it makes me nervous that we may keep being affected because of new regulations

    I haven't run into this but I tend to get specialized stuff filled at the cancer center's pharmacy. I used to get Xeloda from my normal pharmacy but didn't even try with Abemaciclib. I just get it from their pharmacy.

    Have you tried that? [Grrrr. on the idea that you can't get the pain meds you need]

    Hospital pharmacies rock, but we live in tinytown, which could be part of the problem. Also, New York State joined the lawsuit against Purdue Pharmaceuticals, so I think Purdue might be "adjusting" supply to NYS.

    Or I'm just a paranoid lady with far too much time on her hands.

    I don't think you're being paranoid. And even if you were, that doesn't mean that someone is not out to get you. . .
