Hello beautiful ladies! I am newly diagnosed with IDC and had an MRI today. The report came back (the nurse just called me) and said NO SUSPICIOUS LYMPH NODES! I want to be excited, but how likely is it that the MRI could have missed something? I know the surgeon will do a sentinel node biopsy during surgery, but just wanted to hear from anyone with experience to how accurate the MRI is at predicting lymph node invasion. Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom or advice! I appreciate each of you!!!!

Mine was quite accurate. Congratulations on the MRI, and I hope yours is accurate as well.

I actually had a conversation about this today with my oncologist. I am doing chemo before surgery as I have confirmed lymph node involvement. He said that post chemo I will have an MRI to see how well the treatments worked. He said MRIs give a good picture, but nothing is more accurate than the microscope. So definitely hold onto the good news that your MRI didn’t show anything, but know that only pathology will tell you for sure.

My ultrasound, MRI, and pet scan were accurate in confirming no lymph node involvement. Praying that further testing confirms your MRI results

I understood from my surgeon and oncologist that an MRI shows everything -- it is more likely to have a false positive rather than a false negative if anything. So I would cling to your good news!!! Congrats on it. I have my MRI on Wednesday and hope to hear the same news.

Thank you for all the feedback! I will take this as a good sign, but won't count on anything for sure until after the path report comes back. Hope you're all doing well! Hugs to each of you!

Not to be a Debbie Downer - but My MRI did not show lymph node involvement, however after removal of 4 lymph nodes during my mastectomy, I had 3 come back as positive.

Side note: I had surgery BEFORE I started chemo and my MRI was prior to my surgery.

My MRI also did not show lymph node involvement. My MRI was done prior to surgery.

I had my MRI. It showed one suspicious lymph node. They scheduled me for a lymph node biopsy. I had that yesterday. It was quite large as they showed me on the screen. When they went to do the biopsy the needle pulled out yellow fluid. Is this good? Has anyone had this happen? They rechecked the MRI but all the other nodes looked clear.
