6 Month Post-biopsy Mammo and U/S Tomorrow
Heeeeyyyy, folks. Just feeling a bit nervous about my follow up tomorrow morning. I had a B9 result of fibrocystic changes in May after finding a new lump in my right breast. I thought it was another cyst but apparently not. There was an area of concern seen on u/s that prompted the procedure. Radiologist said he thought it was completely removed during the biopsy. The lump I presented with is still there. In addition, the area between the lump and the incision site just doesn’t feel right. It feels harder, tougher, grittier than any other tissue in either breast.
It was all so swollen and hard after the procedure that I assumed it would go away with time but it really hasn’t. I can’t recall if it felt that way before the biopsy or not. Honestly, I was so focused on the lump that I don’t remember what the surrounding area felt like. I did have a hematoma due to the biopsy (what can I say, I’m a great bleeder) so I figured everything was just wonky from the tissue damage. Months later, I thought it may be scar tissue. Of course, I know that ILC can be difficult to see on imaging and that it can make the tissue feel strange, so that’s been filed away in the back if my mind.
Anyway, just dumping that here so that, hopefully, I can get a good night’s sleep. I refilled my Ativan just in case things don’t go well - I had allowed my prescription to lapse when I had my biopsy and so wished that I had some! I never take it so I didn’t realize until too late that I hadn’t filled it. Not doing that again! It’ll be ready for pickup in the morning.
Thinking of all of you who are waiting tonight and wishing you peaceful sleep. Thanks for reading. Wish me luck.

Thanks, Cindy. 🙂 Two hours at the breast center and sent off with the recommendation to keep an eye on the area and report any changes. Nothing but the biopsy clip was seen on mammo or u/s. Still feeling a bit uncertain about the harness of the tissue but I’m cautiously optimistic.
There was a woman who walked into the breast center waiting area (which is separate from the testing center lobby). She looked like she was going to faint. When I asked her if she was OK, she said she’d had bc before and is now back with concern. She seemed absolutely terrified. I just wanted to help her feel better but I couldn’t, so I just kept asking her questions about her life, trying to distract her (and myself). She was waiting when I came out and was so sweet. She asked how everything went for me and seemed genuinely happy that my results were good, despite her clear fear of her own. Oh, my heart aches for her. I hope things are good for her.
Thanks again for your reply. Everyone on these boards are so wonderful. 💕

Floflo123 everyone with high dense breast tissue should receive an ultrasound. Don't read into it, be glad they're doing it. Best of luck to you!

Flo, I also have very dense tissue. I’m about as dense as they come (which I should tell people with no explanation just for laughs). I will likely always have to have an u/s with my mammos because the density makes mammos more difficult to read.
My mom had to have a diagnostic mammo and u/s after her last screening mammo. It isn’t uncommon. Since you didn’t already have previous films as a baseline, they may just want to be thorough since your tissues are dense.
I hope it went well.
