I got the call to go in for simulation tomorrow afternoon and if everything goes smoothly then I'll start on Wednesday.

I did previously talk to the RO about the mepitel film and he didn't think I would need it, I'm only getting 16 treatments. He did recommend a couple of lotions, 100% aloe being the only one that I can remember, and said they will give me samples of aquaphor for after. I'll ask about them again tomorrow but wanted hear about experiences.

Still not really looking forward to this. I just want to be done with everything

Hi Lucyred... I’m almost done with my treatments (last one tomorrow!). My RO told me to use calendula cream. I use it right after each treatment, and again at bedtime. It doesn’t feel sticky or greasy. They gave me a couple of sample tubes, which I kept in my purse. I was able to find it at Target also (first aid aisle), and bought a big tube to keep at home. My skin has changed color, but no oozing, pain or itching. Fatigue has been the biggest side effect for me. It’s been harder emotionally for me, so I can definitely relate to your concerns. You WILL get through this - good luck!

Hi lucyred, Let me reassure you a little. I know everyone is different with their reaction to radiation, but for me it was easy, smooth sailing. I used to go right to the gym after every appointment. No fatigue, nausea, nothing but a sunburn like reaction. In one area of concentration, right on my collarbone, skin scabbed up a bit. It was aggravated by bra strap, so I got convertible sports type bra. I also used aloe, aquaphor, calendula and a cream called Miaderm. The calendula and Miaderm worked best for me. Good luck, I hope it goes as smoothly for you as it did for me.
