Hey all! I’m 31 years old and I recently went for a Mammogram due to a sharp pain in my left breast(despite a nurse practitioner telling me it was just cysts and a mammogram wasn’t necessary) I expected my results to be fine but they came back abnormal and that I had a cluster of Pleomorphic Calcifications in a Scattered Fibroglandular Pattern and was placed in the BI RAD Category 4C. Since then I have had an ultrasound which came back showing no mass, no cysts, nor any architectural distortion or shadowing. My general GP referred me to a surgeon and they got me in the next day to meet and discuss everything and a biopsy was done the very next morning and follow up isscheduled for November 1st to receive my pathology results. I expect that it should come back fine but I do have a strong family history of breast & ovarian cancer(My Aunt, Great Aunt, Great Grandma) as well as my mother has Endometrial Hyperplasia. So I'm just just looking to get some information from those who have gone through what I am. Thank You so much!

Possum06 - you're so young to be dealing with this. The waiting on pathology is very stressful. Everything around bc feels like hurry up & wait. My pathology stated BiRad 4C, which I didn't receive until after the biopsy. With nothing showing on your ultrasound I'm hoping for you that they were wrong on the 4C. I know it's hard but try to think positive, and keep us posted.

Thank You so much CindyNY! I'm still unclear as to the Calcifications. I know they are calcium deposits but I wasn't sure if really they are a type of lesion or something else of the sort?

hi hun, I went through this ordeal of birads 4 assessment, lumpectomy, waiting for histology report and the sort in the month of last July (2018), mine was a spiculated (synonym of BC) mass near the chest wall, the initial radiologist is even now in awe that such a finding in screening came out to be benign (apocrine metaplasia, common hyperplasia, etc) and my follow up postoperative ultrasound 4 months later showed no suspicious findings but, of course, I'll be closely monitored for the rest of my life due to my dense breasts and all their postmenopausal fibrocystic changes, something I actually consider being my profit from all my summer nightmare in MRI rooms and hospital wards, to undergo regular follow up imaging screenings that is...  What I did wrong in this adventure of mine was to take for granted that my lump was cancerous based on the imaging which resulted to me going sleepless and underfed (I honestly lost my appetite...) for weeks, a real pack of nerves...  Now that I know better I can fathom the statistics that only 2 out of 10 imaging findings turn out to be malignant, and having said all the above, I'm sending benign wishes your way and please keep your cool while waiting for your results! <3

Well I went to the hospital to get the results myself and the diagnosis on the Pathology report states

    1. Ductal Carcinoma in Situ-High Grade, Extensive

    2. Micro and Macro Calcifications identifies

    3. No invasive malignancy identified(I suspect they may just be saying that until further tests are ordered)

    4. Breast tumor studies ordered and results pending

DCIS is usually listed as Stage "0" and some refer to it as pre cancer. There is a DCIS forum that has a lot of information on it. Check it out. Best wishes to you!

Thank You for that! I haven't been feeling well at all(Breast pain, Nausea, fatigue/feeling run down, pain in my chest bone, dry cough etc)

*Update*: I ended up going to the ER because I felt so bad, my Labs and X-ray was good so the Doctor said i had Bronchitis. I never realized it could cause so much pain in the ribs, upper chest, shoulders et
