Anyone triple positive with positive sentinel nodes?
I'm new to this community and was diagnosed in August. I had a bilateral mastectomy Sept 26. I'm 40, triple positive, with tumor 4.5cm and 2 positive sentinel nodes. Is there anyone else on here with positive nodes? I'm not comfortable with my oncologist's plan to address the nod

Hi!
I had chemo first, but before chemo, one of my lymph nodes tested positive for cancer via fine needle biopsy.
-
so did they remove them or treat with chemo/radiation

Well, I got chemo for 5 months. At that point, an MRI and a PET scan detected no active cancer in my lymph nodes or my breast. However, no one had bothered to put a surgical clip in my compromised node to keep track of what node it was. So, when the surgeon performed my lumpectomy, he took out all 20 of my Levels 1 and 2 lymph nodes (and none of them tested positive for cancer). And, yes, I got radiation, too. Luckily, I have not developed lymphadema. So, it was what it was.

Hi Kentucky: welcome although I am of course very sorry you are here. What is your oncologist's plan? What part of it are you unhappy with and why?
I was diagnosed a year ago at 47 with a 3.5 cm tumor and 2 nodes enlarged, palpable and that tested positive for cancer -as did the tumor. I had five months of chemo (AC two months, then thee months of THP), then surgery. Based on the results of the pathology after surgery, I also got radiation to the breast area. Now HP until I complete one year, and hormonal treatment -aromatase inhibitors, since I also had my ovaries removed and I am therefore in menopause. It all went fast and right now I feel great, and physically mostly back to normal.
@Elainethere, we got the same treatment! I had a surgical clip when biopsied, and they still removed the entire fatty pad in my axila with all level1 and level2 nodes, and I was told that that is the recommendation, they told me very clearly that no way they were going to remove some nodes only, or do a sentinel node thing -it had to be all out. I haven't developed lymphedema so far either -knock on wood.

I also had chemo first but still had three positive nodes. I had levels 1 and 2 removed along with the fatty pad. No lymphedema yet. I'm set to start radiation in a week.

hi there - I did have positive nodes, did chemo first (tchp) followed by mastectomy and taking 21 nodes/the whole thing. I did not require radiation after bmx because testing after removal showed the nodes were cleared by chemo. I am currently on Lupron and aromasin.
What is your oncologist’s plan? What isn’t feeling great?
Sending you tons of support.
