Size of breast after surgery

I had my partial 4 weeks ago, and the bruising is fading, but the breast is still larger than it was, and fairly firm, though not tender. Can I expect the size to go down to normal eventually, or even to be smaller, because of the lumpectomy, once more healing occurs? At this point, it has a fairly decent shape, and no dimples: I suspect there is fluid where the tumor and surrounding tissue were removed. Does this remain, or does it dissipate, leaving a hollow, usually?

Curious,

Edith

    Hi!

After my lumpectomy, I had a big seroma in my breast, so it looked like larger than I expected. I ended up having the seroma drained by my surgeon because my radiation oncologist refused to start radiation until it was gone. Now, over 3.5 years after surgery, my right breast is a little smaller than my left breast. So, yes, eventually my breast settled into its new size.

Mine didn't go down in size until well into radiation. I had a big hematoma though. Now, 2 years post surgery my cancer side is slightly larger (perkier lol), but has a slight dent where the scar is.
