I think it's benign but no confirmation, thoughts?
I posted out on another group a few days ago as I was waiting for my biopsy to happen.
In the initial online ultrasound and mammogram report. Via ultrasound it stated I had blood flow inside of the nodule. This concerns me greatly. Me being only 40 I hoped it was benign and I think I got my wish.
Just wondering everyone else's thoughts and if they think the doctors will recommend to have it removed? Ultrasound reported it was sized up to 1.2 cm. Mammogram said around 8mm.
So this is the my report. Now mind mind you I haven't spoken to any medical personnel. I actually don't have access to a cell phone till tmr due to losing my cell phone while on vacation. Whoops.
Would you follow what this says here? I have very dense breasts. So I worry just a mmmaogram isn't good enough. Should I request a 3d mammoram just to be sure nothing else is going on in the next week or so?
Addendum: Pathologic diagnosis of the right specimen of the right breast is described as fibroepithelial lesion consistent with fibroadenoma. This is sonographically concordant. The patient may return to routine screening follow-up according to ACS guidelines. |

If you are worried I would follow up. I have a very similar issue to you - lump seen on US as nodule with blood flow (peripheral), diagnosed via biopsy as fibroadenoma. My doctor wants me to see a specialist to confirm though as she's not sure and as I have other breast lumps.

I decided to make another appt for a 2nd opinion. I guess 2nd opinion is good. It's just got me worried. I only have the one nodule seen but have very very dense breasts.
So 10 days I'll get another opinion. In the mean time I will deep breathe and believe all is fine.
Hope all is fine with you as well sparrowhawk

You DO have confirmation. The pathology says fibroadenoma, which confirmed what it appeared to be on ultrasound.

You asked for thoughts.
1st thought--As MelissaDallas said, you have confirmation from the pathologist. Plus it is concordant meaning your biopsy is consistent with what the mammogram showed. You're back to normal screening now. Time to stop worrying.
2nd thought--If it is possible for you to get a second opinion, do so. Never hurts IMO. I got one and was glad I did. No real difference in the results.
