I will give the tomatoes a try! I am going to dry my okra seeds and try planting them next year. No one eats it in my family but me but I can give it away. The plants are beautiful and have the prettiest blooms.

Vicky- at least half of my tomato crop this year was surprise plants! I had so many coming up I had to thin them to the strongest, biggest plants.
I have a Rose of Sharon bush on front of my house that is huge. I’m pretty sure it’s three separate bushes that grew together. It has three different colored flowers depending which side you’re looking at.

I am also trying to dry and collect seeds for next year. I’ve had moderate success with lettuce seeds from last year. I saved some heirloom tomato seeds, some cukes, and I’m trying to save some beans from my best plant. I’ve got one huge pod that I’m just leaving on the plant.
The gardens are finishing up here, with the exception of kale and peppers. Kinda looking forward to clearing them out. Things are either sad and finished or overgrown and going to seed

Cpeachy that Rose of Sharon is beautiful!
-
Cpeachymom, wonderfull flowers!! I also like to save seeds of various veggies or flowers...
I went chasing sqirrels today 😀 I mean gathering walnuts 😀 The beasts are taking them by the dozens!! I chased several away, but they were deffinitelly back when I turned my back.
But still got some
and my aunt brought some of her veggies, received our honey in exchange. Picture taken after I'd already made and eaten a salad 😁

Breaking down my garden this weekend

Husband and I took a 4 day mini-vacation to Maine.
The following photos were taken at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is set on nearly 300 acres and the largest botanical garden in New England.
-
Oh Teka, just beautiful. Those are wonderful gardens. Did you go to Maine to leaf peep too?
-
I came to the cottage today and I was surprised to see my Dahlia is blooming still. Winter is almost here ,temperatures drop already and my plants are giving me something to smile about ?
Looking for long sticks to tide and hope the flowers survive a few more weeks lol
Maybe asking for too much now

Enerva ..What a beautiful dahilia 🌞
-
My new hibiscus ..called Bali Sunset .I was totally amazed at the size of the flower , and the really surprised when the second bud opened and it was a different colour 🌞
-
Wow! That is gorgeous! I'll look for one here. They are pretty much summer only here, but that one would be totally worth it.
-
Garden stopped producing tomatoes last week so I harvested the last of what was growing. Hubby did the tear down this week while he took a week of vacation from work to get stuff done here and at his parents house.
-
M0mmyof2,
We placed all our green tomatoes in brown boxes, covered with brown paper, and waited. I still have some turning red!

Another one of my loves 🤗 Wrenn where I live in Brisbane they flower pretty much all year in the right spot ..
-
Not exactly a flower ...but I took this photo in my garden yesterday..
-
Lucy- OMG, a roo with a joey! I can't imagine how great it would be to see one of those in my garden. Thanks for sharing!
-
Lucy55- do the kangaroos eat your flowers?
-
Replaced my spider plant that died with a new one. Hubby helped me transplant it into the new pot.
-
Dodgersgirl ..The Kangaroos will eat some of the plants .. in really dry periods ..If there's natural green pick around they aren't interested ..
-
Lucy55- thanks for the info. So neat to see your pic
-
Lucy55, as it is spring/summer where you live, I'm very looking forward to seeing lots of flowers and green....and wildlife! Thank you for sharing your great pics!
-
Yes Lucy, me too as my gardens are going to sleep soon. We will have a frost soon and already had some snow here last week with an early blast of winter. Bring on the photos from the southern hemisphere!
-
We had some wild weather here on the coast yesterday. This is hail all over my deck after the storm- very unusual here
-
Our weather here can't make up it's mind. Rain one day and then 80s the next.
-
GMAfoley- that is a beautiful photo.
Peachy- we had 2 inches of rain overnight, in a place that gets 8 inches a year. It has been crazy over here too. Get ready as this is a soaker and coming your way......
-
Lucy love your hibiscus. Its great to see as we head into fall and winter here. I cant imagine seeing a kangaroo out and about. How cool!
-
jazzy- that must’ve been crazy! Two inches overnight is a lot for most places, never mind the desert! Does it just soak into the soil or did you get mudslides and such? Sorry for my ignorance.
-
Cpeachy- no floods or mudslides but I did find a leak in my roof!
