My question is whether anyone has shortened the recommended chemo plan? I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma - 6+ cm tumor infiltrating the duct, nodes - negative, er/pr +, Her2/neu - neg, stage III although surgeon said prognostically she is calling it a stage II. Chemo plan is 4x Cytoxin and Adriamycin every 2 weeks and then Paclitaxel very week for 12 weeks. I am doing pre-surgery chemo to shrink tumor and it is going well. I have had 3 chemo sessions and the tumor has shrunk substantially. So I am wondering about shortening the Taxol sessions - why 12 not 8 or 6 . . .I will check in with the Dr. just thought I might get some ideas from this group.

Hi its-real, glad to hear that your tumor is responding well to chemo. I have only heard shortening the recommended chemo plan due to side effects. I am one of them. A lot of stage III members talked about throwing kitchen sink at their tumors during chemos, especially if they have young families. I wish I could complete the full course of chemo. My MO said cancer is tricky. My surgeon said breast cancer is very sneaky in particular.
