Just worried....

Hey everyone- I recently went to my Gyn. with slight breast pains (both sides- on and off). He took a 30 second look and feel and said he felt fibrocystic thickening in both breasts. He ordered a mammogram and ultrasound- this Thursday. I forgot mention that both armpits are swollen and "burn". When I called back, neither he or the nurse were sure about it. Has anyone experienced these symptoms before? I am 36 with no other breast issues.

    When you are finally in the room with the tech who will be doing the imaging, casually say: 'I didn't think to mention to my dr that something is going on with my armpits also-will these scans show that area also?'

    That will hopefully be enough of a prompt to the gal to make sure she scans comprehensively (instead of X marks the spot tunnel vision.) Don't be afraid to speak up. Your dr will not have included your armpits revelation in his original clinic note and imaging order.
