I'm no excited. I'm only 2-1/2 hours away. Wanted to do the Vegas trip but couldn't afford. I can definitely do this trip and would love to meet all of you. Please keep me on the reminder list.
Ashley -
Oops. I meant I'm SO excited!!
-
If you need some help organizing this, please let me know. I would love to help!! Sounds like a blast!!
-
Will be great to meet all of you. I have talked to Jasmine and there really isn't any organizing to be done. Some prefer to stay in Wilmington and other's with some of the local's there. I prefer Wrightsville Beach,(just a few minutes out of Wilmington) so I plan on getting my motel there. We will coordinate times to get together to hang out, eat, etc. I am excited too.....can hardly wait.
If anyone is near the area, you might scout out some good places to stay and let us know. -
If there is any organizing to be done I can help too. I've never actually stayed in Wilmington or Wrightsville, always staying at a nearby beach. But have visited many times. I've always heard good things about the Blockade Runner Beach Resort in Wrightsville Bch. Also the waterfront area in Wilmington is a wonderful area. One great restaurant is Dockside on the Wilmington side on the waterway.
-
Okay, time for me to get serious about saving money. I would love to meet everyone. Just keep reminding me. LOL
Liz -

So anxious to meet all of you, I will be sure to remind you.

Ladies, I lived just south of Wilmington for a few years, not too long ago, on one of the barrier islands there. I will tell you that it is not too soon now to start looking for summer reservations. Or at least to talk to a travel agent and ask if you need to start making reservations now, or can wait.
-
Like JeanLouise, I lived on one of the barrier islands south of Wilmington. She is right in that now is not too soon to start making reservations for the area.
-
Ok NY & PA Ladies....I will be driving down anyone needing a ride...let me know...got to make reservations soon....

PM me -
I've made a reservation at the Holiday Inn in Wilmington. Doris and I checked and Wrightsville Beach seems to be booked already.

I have done some research and made some phone calls today regarding the June 22nd get together in Wilmington, NC.
(June 22nd thru June 25th, stay all or part)
I have been quoted a rate of $99.00 per night at the Innkeeper of Wilmington. I spoke with Danielle, the assistant manager and also Mary Lou, the sales director.
The phone number is: 910-799-4292. Mary Lou's cell is 910-264-5783. If anyone wants reservations here, our organization name is of course, "Breast Cancer.Org". You will need to mention that to get the $99.00 rate, otherwise, it will be $109.00. She said they have 95 rooms, so that should certainly be sufficient for us.
She also told me that just around the corner from them is a popular restaurant named "Wilson's". She said it has very reasonable prices, a meeting room large enough to accomodate all of us that we would be allowed to use and a varied menu selection.
I asked about room cleanliness, was very affirmative that this was mandatory because we were in various stages of treatment and some had a compromised immunity. Danielle said they took great pride in the cleanliness of their rooms and did daily spot inspections checking on their housekeeping staff.
Mary Lou said if we decided to go with them, they would put together a welcoming party of cookies and drinks.
Everyone is responsible for their own reservations, I imagine many of us will be doubling up and I certainly am not trying to make decisions for anyone, but thought it would be more convenient if we were at or close to the same location. -

Ladies, I have had no feedback. Please let me or Jasmine know if you are planning on attending this gathering. Again, it is not just for locals. It is BCO wide.

I LOVE Wilmington!!!
There's a new huge shopping center with Chain restaurants called May Fair! Awesome. And of course the Cotton Exchange.
keep me posted...
In 04, I went there to meet with our bc sisters from bc.org Then the next year, I met Jasmine and Rose. Jas, is Rose coming???
My vacation in Surf City will have ended that day, but that's okay. I can make it work.
Hugs,
Precious

Wilmington is a great little city. We have a small cottage in Kure Beach, but unfortunately we rent it out June-Aug. I hope you all enjoy getting together and the friendly atmosphere and kind folks that live in the Wilmington area.
