Your mass size difference from mammogram to ultrasound
I am curious to find out of other’s mammogram and ultrasound size differences and if your outcome was vastly different as a result. As of yet, malignancy hasn’t been ruled out. Here are my measurements:
My very first diagnostic mammogram was at a hospital breast screening clinic on August 15, 2018 stating a mass of 4mm (with mildly lobulated margins). On August 15 the ultrasound stated the mass as 1.5 x 0.8 x 1.3 cm. On October 4, I had a second ultrasound done at another breast clinic associated with a cancer hospital and a new second mass was found 1 cm away from my original (was only told it was 0.7 cm). I am still waiting for those results and have my surgeon’s appointment October 17 to get my new findings and measurements. Has anyone else had such varying results? I’ve never had a mamogram previous to this and I’m telling myself that this is normal, but a part of me is scared by these vast changes. Thanks.

My gyno found my lump. He measured it at 5 cm. When I went for my diagnostic mammo and ultrasound it was measured at 1.5 cm. When I had my breast MRI it measured close to 5 cm. When I had the lumpectomy it was true to the MRI

Mine has measured differently on the mammogram, ultrasound, and MRI. And then on the mammogram following placement of the clip after my second biopsy. I don’t know the final answer just yet. UMX in coming up on the 25th. I should add that my cancer is ILC and is tricky to see on imaging.

Hi,
I had very dense breast tissue so they had a hard time with mine as well. Originally small lump on right side with another lump thought to be 2x2x1.5 cm and papallomiatosis on left. Dr’s kept telling me during the imaging( 2Mamo, 2ultrasound and 2 MRI biopsy’s ) that my tissue was very dense and it was hard to tell. So I elected for a bilateral mastectomy. Good thing as it turns out because there was cancer hiding in the papallomiatosis and tumor on right was 6x4X2.5cm. Sometimes they really won’t know until they get inside. Good luck!

My mammogram and ultrasound measurements were spot on. Both said 1.3 mm and the tumor was 1.2 mm x 1.3 mm x 1.4 mm.
