Have TE but considering flap
So this whole process has been a whirlwind. I'm less than 2 months since diagnosis and have had my bmx and ALND. I elected to have TE placed during my bmx with silicone implants to come. (Ive already had implants placed in 2016 - pre diagnosis). Well, I've settled down, thought, prayed and thought some more. I'm strongly considering flap surgery (maybe SGAP) instead of implants. I'm considering making an appointment at the center of breast restoration in NOLA. Has anyone changed their mind “mid stream" or went there? I start ACT tomorrow so nothing can happen anytime soon. I've only had 1 fill so far with the TE. Thanks so much

I went to NOLA. They are true artists as well as PSs. You don’t have to go there to have the consult...in fact most of us don’t. They offer a phone consult with emailed photos free of charge. Just call and set it up. If you’re on FB and want to join the NOLA Patient FB group let me know. Plenty of ladies in that group have gone from TEs to flap or traded out implants for flap there.

wow thank you! I will PM you.

I didn't end up using NOLA because I am needing to have a different type of muscle flap to close a chest wall defect, however the experience I had for awhile remotely with NOLA was fantastic! The did a phone consult, will have you email photos, and they are just wonderful to work with. Wishing you the best of luck!

Gaspasser-Who are the best surgeons there? Thank you!

All the surgeons at NOLA are the best. It’s very different than any other medical experience I’ve ever had and not super easy to explain. Why are they all the best? Well, They work in tandem on you for stage 1 - 1 does 1 side and the other does the opposite side. They all use the same techniques and they are all highly skilled. They all need to use the same techniques and have similar skill levels to do the procedures in this manner. Having 2 work on you at once decreases the amount of time you’re in surgery. Unlike PSs that are affiliated with a hospital system who have the big hospital name as a big part of their reputation the NOLA docs have only their work to build a reputation on and keep it. They all are accountable to the patient and their satisfaction as well as to each other. With all that being said, if you were severely botched somewhere else, I think only 1 or 2 of the NOLA docs handle those cases. (Dr Dellacroce is one of them). Dr Dellacroce was my primary with Dr Wise assisting. Dr Dellacroce and Dr Sullivan are the founding partners. You can request one of their PSs in particular or they will assign you the first available for surgery. I was assigned to Dr D. I would go back to NOLA in a heartbeat if I had to do it over again. I hope this helps!
