TailorX Beneficiary: Good news, apprehensive, feeling guilty?

Hello Fellow TailorX beneficiaries!

I was diagnosed this summer and made the conscience decision to have a bi-lateral mastectomy in august .

Good News: I am very blessed with Clear Nodes, No Radiation! The next milestone was my Oncotype, my number was 20, considered low intermediate. Surgeon said NO Chemo needed, based on the new TailorX study...WOW...I couldn't believe it! I have been truly blessed on my journey and am trying to adjust to Tamoxifen while continuing my reconstruction process.

Apprehensive: This is just one study. No complaining, but I sure hope they got this right! Everywhere I turn there are new cases or reoccurrences.

Feeling Guilty: Since the beginning of this journey, four of my friend/relatives have been diagnosed with BC. REALLY!? This is supposed to be a 1 in 8 disease and I am going through it with four others I know personally!? (thats the ticked off part).

Here's the Guilty Feeling part: Three of my friend have/are having Lumpectomies, the 4th friend, this was her 3rd reoccurrence and now had a BXM, and they all need chemo and most likely radiation. It makes me very sad for them as well as feeling guilty for not having to endure the treatments. Yes, I know that I am having to deal with recovering from a BXM and reconstruction pains with extra surgeries. I just hate that hey are having to deal with the extra anxiety and pain!

Am I alone in these feelings? Every time I hear of a new case I get angrier, how about lets find a cure for cancer! UGH

    I have to tell you a coworker of mine got BC about 6 months after I did. I was envious she had one ilc tumor 1cm I had one idc and one ilc both 1cm, everything about her cancer seemed better than mine. She had lumpectomy and qualified for savi radiation, I had to have a mastectomy. My oncodx score was 34 hers was 4. I was almost jealous. Then not even a year later I saw her at the company gym, she had bone mets. I was shocked she had clear nodes. Her tumor had been close to the chest wall mine were close to the skin. Unfortunately you never know with this disease.

    Wow Meow13, I know that was a shocker! So true, you never know what this diseases will do! All I know is I have done everything I can possibly do based on my Doc's recommendations to try and avoid a reoccurrence, but there are no guarantees. Thanks for replying definitely food for thought!
