Ok, so I've had a lump on my right breast for two years now. It started about pea sized my PCP sent me for a ultrasound that showed nothing so he told me not to worry about it. Well two years later the lump has trippled in size. Went back to doctor did another ultrasound and mammogram this time. The radiologist said that my breast we're super dense and since I'm still breastfeeding it was really hard to see anything that she wouldn't be able to do a biopsy since she can't see anything but that she would talk with doctor about removing it. Well my doctor decided she wants to wait 4 months and do another ultrasound and mammogram... I talk with my gyno and she had a breast specialist look over my films and she said she felt like it could be a clogged milk duct (for 2 years???) But wanted to see me in her office so she could look at it herself..... I'm just so confused and not sure what I should be doing.

Have you been breastfeeding for the whole two years? Does it ever change? Is it the BS that wants to see you or the OB/GYN?

If it's palpable then they may just opt to remove it. Of course, removing anything while breastfeeding may alter your milk supply and delivery. I had mastitis with every child. In one case - I was left with a lump after the infection was gone and it lasted quite a while. I thought I was going to ended up at the BS, but eventually it went away.

    kaitlynRiley18:

I had a palpable lump about that size that either did not show on my first ultrasound or was missed or mistaken for something else, but two years later it was 2.5cm and did show on the ultrasound the second time and was cancerous.

Hopefully the breast specialist will be able to biopsy your lump.

Thank you for the reply. No I haven't been breastfeeding this whole time my son is one year old now. I breast feed my other children too but not when the lump first showed up. And it the bs that wants to see me and do the ultrasound herself and feel the lump. The lump is probably and inch long now that's why I'm so confused why nothing is seen on ultrasound. And if it was a clogged duct wouldn't they see that??
