Hi everyone,

A couple of months ago I found a tiny lump on my right breast (the best way to describe it is that it feels like an advil gel pill), I told my doctor about it and she sent me to get an ultrasound. I just got the ultrasound and while I was there they found a bigger mass (about 9mm, the other is 3) that I cant feel. They told me the smaller one is a cyst and the bigger one is a complex cyst, and to just come back in 6 months to get another look. Well the next day my doctor called me (I can't tell if she sounded concerned or just normal) and told me she wanted me to see a cancer specialist.

I honestly don't know if she is genuinely concerned or if it's really all just to be safe?

For some background - I'm a 20 year old female. My mom and aunt both got diagnosed with breast cancer in their 40s, my aunt's was found later and she passed away from it but my mom's was found early and she's fine now. I believe my mom did genetic testing but it all came back fine.

I'm not super worried or anything (which is weird, because i'm usually a hypochondriac) but I just want to know if anyone else has gone through something similar?

Hi! I'm glad you were able to get an ultrasound which gave you some answers. I don't have a lot of experience in this area (currently waiting on test results myself, and my doctor has also asked me to see a breast specialist regardless of my results) but perhaps your doctor is just trying to be safe, given your family history. It doesn’t necessarily mean that she thinks you could have cancer.

Were or are you able to ask her opinion as to what she thinks of the report?
