What a difference a year makes

Justkeepswimming, the chemo gets real old, real fast. I was VERY tired by the end of chemo and rads. But I forced myself to get some kind of exercise every day, even if it was just a slow shuffle around the block. After a few months, I felt well enough to get into a gym and that REALLY helped. I started the gym 3 years ago about, and today I am probably in better shape than I have ever been. Do talk to your docs. They can often help with the SEs.
I got my DX the same day we went to a benefit dinner that is held every year around the same time. The picture I posted further up the thread was me (in a blue dress) going to that same dinner exactly a year after DX. Well, we went on the 2nd anniversary of my DX as well, by which time I had pretty much lost the sickly look:

peace and holeinone, thank you for your Words of encouragement. It means so much to me coming from ladies who have been there.
Momine, your new photo is beautiful! Its also hard to imagine pretty again given the scars and hairlessness. I was walking a mile a day up till mother nature dumped tons of snow my way. Thank you for showing me there will be sunshine again.

Justkeep, I know it seems impossible to get back to some sort of "normal," but it really does happen. Keep the faith.
-
Beautiful picture, Momine!

Bumpin'.....anyone else have pics? Post them
-
-
Darn--I tried to post pics but couldn't get them lined up right!
-
No worries...thanks anyway
-
OK, I'll try again! Here I am after the April 2012 mastectomy. I look like a bald, fat alien.
-
And here we are this year. Two grandbabies I thought I might not ever see. Life is wonderful.
-
I love seeing these pictures! Brings tears to my eyes...we all have been through so much. I agree, life is wonderful, sbelizabeth!
-
looks like you have a wonderful guy there with you. In the hospital picture, I can see the love and worry on his face.
And grandkids are the best!
-
Thank you sbelizabeth for posting such a wonderful picture of you so healthy with your husband and grand babies!! Your grand babies are gorgeous....you and your husband look so happy and proud!! Thank you for posting the before and after..a reminder that there is an after after BC! Thank you to all that have posted pics on this thread..and if I ever figure it out how I will also!
-
Beautiful....thank you
-
Sbelizabeth, those are wonderful pictures. Thanks for posting.
-
Beautiful pics and adorable grandkids, thank you so much for posting. Our words mean a lot to newbies, we can say it will get better but when they can see the hair back, the color return to our face and the light return in our eyes it means even more, I think.
-
Thanks, everyone--I'm happy you enjoyed the pics. When I was a scared and depressed newbie, Jennyboog's photos gave me HOPE.
See the pearls I'm wearing? My hubby gifted me with them as an "good riddance to cancer" present after the last surgery. I have been blessed beyond all measure.

This thread kept me sane during some dark days. Grateful I am now through treatment and maybe able to help others see some light. Forever indebted to the ladies who started this thread. Xo
One year ago with my 6 yr old son, after 4 AC and at the beginning of 12 taxol. And then today with my now 7 yr old. You can and will get through treatment...I did 😊
-
Beautiful pictures I am sure the transition will be inspiring to others.
-
Thank you Pessa and I like your word 'transition' very appropriate.

Querida Jenny, ¿tienes problemas con el linfedema? ¿Cómo se previene o se trata? Me da mucho miedo porque hay muchos nodos involucrados. ¡Gracias hermosa!
