Gynocamastia few questions

got.a ultrasound of left breast which has been tender and has hard spots around it and is slightly enlarged immediately was called in for a.mammogram I am a MALE the left breast has alot of thickened tissue and the right one looks nothing like it then nurse immediately went and asked the doctor about the image results and he quickly said it was gynocamastia and not to worry I hope it's ok to post the xray images not a actual naked photo I haven't found anything that looks even remotely like it, do u think its necessary for me.to follow up with the doc it's been over 15 days since I did it and haven't got a call what are your thoughts anyone ....please? Noticed in july possibly getting less tender and shrinking unsure

    Welcome to BCO Brandon810. First, it's really best not to post breast scans here, since they really do require specialist examination rather than amateur guesswok that could lead you in the wrong direction.

    I have to say, and I don't know your age, that a lot of young men post here and they are, ndeed, diagnosed with gynaecomastia.

    That said, you could follow up with your doctor and share your concerns. Even request a biopsy. Or you could seek a second opinion.


    Let us know how this evolves. Primarily, though, relax until there's evidence that something is wrong.

    Hi Brandon- so they did or did not do the mammogram? 15 days is long enough to have reports on both the ultrasound and mammogram. Does the dr office that ordered the tests have a patient portal? If so I’d log into it and see if your reports are listed there. If the imaging center is affiliated with a hospital that has a patient portal you can check there as well. If no luck with the portal, walk in to the breast imaging center and request a copy of both sets of results. You do not need to give them any explanations of why (frankly it’s good to have them in your own personal file), just that you need a copy for your personal records. Good luck🍀

    it says gynocamastia left bigger than right on radiology report

    there is a portal with four images and report says gynocamastia but the right looks completely fine and the left is white all over and looks completely different it looks like a long solid mass behind my nipple running up and downwards with dense tissue all behind it

    I was told by a very experienced digestove.internal medicine doctor that the results arendetwrmined and report is written by the radiologist and the stupid little omni family health doctor is going to tell me the same thing as the nurse the doctor at the radiology department said and what the patient portal said so I am going to bring these results to alaska native medical center in Anchorage as they have a few recent xray angles and I haven't followed up with that clinic yet it was a er visit and I had other issues I mentioned like anxiety back accident issue etc. so the er doc told me to follow up with internal medicine and said she never seen anything...then I asked do u insist I follow my up with them because you said you didn't see anything... and she took awhile an said yeah I would get that bump checked

    If this is what the report says exactly then there is a problem with the radiologist. This is not how a radiology report is written. If you’re just looking for key words you recognize then that can be a problem too as you may be missing other very important key words. You definitely need to take your report with you to whoever you follow up with and have them review the report with you line by line not just, “it’s gynecomastia”. Gynecomastia in a 30 year old in the absence of overweight/obesity is pretty rare. If you do fall in the category of overweight/obese (and you’re not a body builder/athlete) gynecomastia is fairly common. The excess weight converts testosterone to estrogen and extra estrogen causes breast changes.
