Starting tamoxifen today, how long before side effects start?

im taking my first dose of tamoxifen tonight. How soon will the side effects start?

    Maybe you won't have any. That would be nice. Or perhaps they will be so mild as to be dismissed easily.

    Personally - I had severe muscle spasms in my legs starting the very first night. The mental and emotional effects were gradual. I don't remember how long it took for the vaginal discharge to become bothersome.

    The amazing thing is that some people do just fine! I hope you're one of them.

    I have longer menstrual cycles (6-7 weeks between instead of 4)---that took a couple of months to start. Hot flashes took a couple of months too. I also have dry mouth and that popped up about 6 months in.

    I started my tamoxifen May 28, 2018 and since day 1 I have had consistent headaches with migraines. The first month my period was a week late then it regulated back out to 28-31 days. However, I am 5 days late on my period currently so I'm hoping it's the tamoxifen. I've only had about 4 hot flashes and those started a couple months after starting the medication. The migraines subsided after the first month, but they were pretty bad. For the headaches now I take magnesium and it is amazing. I also take melatonin to help me sleep at night and that works wonders.
