At age 66 I dealt with thyroid removal for papillary carcinoma, now at 71, breast cancer( only one breast, but elected to have both removed). Had a total hysterectomy at age 45, so cleared for Arimedex. Wrong! Hives, swollen eyes and lips.next on the menu, Tamoxifen. Severe joint pain, cannot take nsaids r/t mild kidney dysfunction. Beaupeep-

This is discouraging but not uncommon to have to find the right inhibitor for your body. I'm curious if maybe one of the fillers on Arimidex gave you reaction not the actual drug. Were you on the generic Anastrozole?

I wonder why MO switched you tamoxifen and not a Femora or Aromisen?

There are more options for you don't despair, but the last thing I would do is feel embarrassed. This is not your fault and a common, very common problem to find the correct inhibitor that you can tolerate. That's why there is such a high rate of women discontinuing because of intolerable side effects.

Hang in there Beaupeep. You are not alone and in familarcompany!!
