after lumpectomy the surgon left a clip for radiotherpay. it seems the clip can be touched it looks like still the tumer is there!

Is there anyone who feels like the lump still there after lumpectomy done 2 weeks ago? is it due to the clip? or swelling?

Danaqtr, it could well be a seroma. Fluid usually fills the space created by the lumpectomy. Re the clips, my mammogram 6 months after surgery reported multiple clips at both the lumpectomy and sentinel node sites. The clips are very tiny; most likely you are feeling the seroma. I can still feel mine but it is shrinking, albeit very slowly. So many changes in our lives. . .

Hi danaqtr... My surgeon also placed several titanium clips during my lumpectomy, to help the radiation oncology folks target the right area. They’re tiny- about the size of a sesame seed. I doubt you could feel them. Instead, I wonder if you’ve developed a hematoma or seroma. I had my lumpectomy 5 weeks ago, and still have a seroma. It does feel like a lump, but my surgeon said it will gradually absorb. I would mention it to your surgeon at your next appointment. Wishing you a good recovery!

My lumpectomy was in 2012 and I still have a small linear lump where the tumor was. The surgeon said that was the tumor bed and a small amount of fluid may collect there. Never had a problem. I feel sure some is scarring

That area will be hard for quite a while. Have you been told to massage it to help soften it up

I am 1 month out and have a rather large lump. I have an ultra sound tomorrow to see if they can fibure out what it is. I was treated for 2 weeks with antibiotics for an infection but the skin is still dimpled and the lump is still there.

A bit nervous but BS says "I need to worry about something else like world peace" She has quite the sense of humor!
