Tingling in 1 nipple

Has anyone had tingling in one side that turned out to be nothing? For the past year, the lateral side of my left nipple tingles and also developed a bump on the nipple which my gyn says is a gland. I did have a diagnostic mammo on this breast about 1 year ago when this first started. I also had a bilateral u/s which revealed many cysts. I am due for another u/s but am debating if I want to get it done or not. I am only 37 and just the u/s is super stressful for me. My doctor seems unconcerned by this. What should I do? Does anyone have any insight? My dr did do a breast exam 1 month ago. I’m worried but I don’t know if I should be... thank you.

What is your family history? As someone who was misdiagnosed for 20 months, I would rather be safe than sorry. The odds are that it is not cancer, but since an ultrasound is noninvasive, I would go ahead with it if the dr. ordered it. Btw, just because the dr. is unconcerned doesn’t mean you should be. The fortunate women here are the ones who had doctors that cared enough to order further testing. Mine did not.

No real history. 2 maternal aunts have brca2 but my mom is negative. Unsure about dads side. Dads mom did have bc probably in her 50s. I have an appointment to see a geneticist in November. I know the u/s will reassure me more than my dr but I’m just so terrified it will turn out bad. I thought bc was worse the younger you are

I would definitely get the US with that family history. Keep us posted.

I wore a soft bra yesterday with no underwire and sports bra like material for the first time and that helped tremendously. It’s hard to say what is going on bc on this same side I also have a bad shoulder/ac joint and this same nipple also has small cracks in the center of it and looks like it has a small divot. It is really strange and hard to see unless you really look but I suspect that is the issue. I’ve tried antibiotic cream with no help. I’m not even remotely pregnant or breastfeeding. I think I may try to get it to see my dr but I’m not sure how serious she will take it bc it’s not blantantly obvious. Hoping it’s just a superficial issue and nothing more..
