Worried!!! Looking for advice.
I am 40 years old, about to be 41 next week. Was given the diagnosis in july, had surgery in august to remove 10mm mass, waiting for oncotype results that just arrived, score of 21. Doctor recommends 4 rounds of chemo followed by radiation. Was ready to start radiation next week, not that's on hold. So many things are going through my mind, trying to understand, won't see oncologist for another two weeks. Trying not to lose my mind and have a meltdown.

Santi, I'm glad you checked in with us. This is all confusing and scary -- especially at first -- but it does get better. Please let us know how we can help. For now, I'd recommend that you say hello over on the "starting chemo in October 2018" thread; I know that having a posse sure helped me deal with radiation.

Hi, Welcome...
Many many years ago my NP taught me to breathe...I was having a meltdown in her office. Take 3 nice slow deep breaths....It is very scarey in begining. taking a walk helps. I have done rads, and chemo. you can too...breathe

Yes I agree, take a few deep breaths. Sometimes they delay radiation due to wound healing issues. Is your wound from your surgery healed fully? Did you receive all 4 cycles of chemo before RT? Waiting is very hard but hang in there and try to keep your mind busy.

my surgery was six weeks ago. went today to have cy simulation scans done to start radiation next week. got the call from oncologist right when I leave radiation center. When I first met with oncologist she stated that she highly doubted that I would need chemo, that changed today

Hi Santi, that is so disappointing. Could you get a second opinion? It must feel like this new news came out of the blue, for sure. Perhaps seeing another oncologist for a second opinion on the chemo recommendation would help you better figure out your path of treatment. At the very least meet with your oncologist to have her explain her reasoning a bit better if it will help you wrap your mind around this new development. I can tell you that I was terrified of chemo before I had it--probably like so many others--and it wasn't easy, but it was doable and not as terrifying as I thought at all. Let us know how it's going; we care.
Hugs
