Oncotype - how long did it take to receive results?
I had my lumptectomy on 8/29. What is the timeline to receive results?

They usually say two weeks or so. I had surgery the 7th of last August and had results by the 25th. BUT,, when I went for my post op one week after surgery she told me then that they were sending out the test...so it doesnt always mean it went out the day after surgery etc. so don't worry if it takes 2 weeks..

Yes--a friend didn't have her sample sent for testing until three weeks after her surgery. You might ask if it's gone out yet.
-
9 days for mine. But, the tumor sample was already there from the other testing. So if it needed to get there, I would assume it would have been a few days longer
-
I was told it would take 2 weeks but it took 3. Of course it feels a lot longer. You could consider calling your doctor and asking for an update. They seem to understand how stressful it is.

So here is my experience with my Oncotype. I was under the impression that my breast surgeon would have the results when I went for a followup. I discovered at the appointment that here, the Oncotype is ordered when I would go to meet with the medical oncologist. I did not want to wait any longer for the results so my BS ordered the Oncotype report. Then it would be ready for the Med. Oncologist and we would be ready to discuss treatment plans. It took 2 weeks.
I guess my point is.... make sure that the testing of the tissue has been officially ordered or it might delay things further. Hang in there, sending positive thoughts to you, with the new Taylor X study published this year, more and more BCS's will not need to have Chemo. I hope you fall into that category!

Medicare does not allow the tumor sample to be sent for two weeks, then the results were reported two weeks after that. The wait was awful. Medicare has been wonderful throughout, with this one notable exception. I have no idea why they require the two weeks wait and neither did my doctors.

^^^ My experience was nearly mirror to NCGirl's --- > My care coordinator told me this (test hadn't been ordered yet even though pathology was back) and I asked her if it was possible to have the test sent out asap so I'd have the results for that first visit. She contacted my MO and she was onboard with my desire to skip the wait and requested the test in advance. I was SO thankful for their willingness to save my peace of mind!
Also, I do have Medicare and didn't have the awful extra wait that Boston12 spoke of (so sorry for the delay you experienced Boston!
) Perhaps there are differences in plans of Medicare as well. Not sure. All I know is that I had my surgery on the 8/30, got Path results via phone call 9/3, spoke to Care Coordinator same day, MO ordered ONCO 9/4. My results were waiting for me on 9/17 at my MO appt.
Unfortunately I'm in the "grey area" and seeking a 2nd opinion and a Mammaprint to help me make the chemo choice. Ugggh, more waiting. I sure hope you get your good news of super low ONCO asap! Hang in there!
Hugs and healing to all.

Thank you everyone for responding!!! My MO called this afternoon with results. Score 31, I'll be meeting with him this Friday, he said to discuss if chemo would be beneficial.
-
Spoonie77 I'll pray everything works out for you! Tough decisions.

Thanks AMLmom! Indeed tough decisions. At least my Mammaprint is now in the works. Should hear back in 7-10 days. Fingers crossed it agrees with my ONCO and I can put Chemo firmly behind me.
Wishing you the best of luck as you navigate your decisions on Friday. Keep us posted. Hugs.
