4 days since dx
it’s been 4 days since dx and I’ve pretty much given up all hope. The US showed extensive pleomorphic microcalcifications measuring 7x4.6x5cm. After biopsy, IDC was found in breast and the one node the tested was also positive. There’s no way an area that big hasn’t spread past the lymph nodes. I have 2 young kids. I’m 34 years old. I’ve posted before but I just can’t wrap my head around the size of the area where they found cancer. Please help. I see my BS tomorrow but I can’t believe she will be able to ease my worries at all.

I'm so, so sorry. This is not my area of expertise, but the odds of pleomorphic microcalcifications being malignant is less than 40 percent, which means that the cancerous tumor is smaller. So please try not to jump to the worst case scenario of spread past the one lymph node. The main thing now is to find a breast surgeon you trust, and take this one step at a time. You will have some really tough days, but this will one day be in the rearview mirror. For now, focus on getting all of the information you can tomorrow, including copies of the ultrasound and biopsy reports. And if you feel it will help, take someone with you to the appointment to take notes for you. It is overwhelming at first but I promise, once you have a treatment plan you will feel a bit better and more in control.
Please keep in touch.

Fritz, take a deep breath. You are in the scariest part of this process. I was exactly where you were just a few weeks ago. There are so many unknowns that will be scare you. Your mind will race. Im 41 and have 3 small kids and the days were so hard looking at them and knowing. But.... once the diagnosis phase is complete, your doctors will give you a plan. And for most, that helps a ton. You are not alone in this. We are all here. This forum has been incredible. Please come to rant, complain, update or just vent. The women here are amazing. The days coming will be tough. Your a mom and that what keeps us going sometimes. Hoping for a smooth diagnosis process for you. Keep us posted.

Fritz I know before I was diagnosed May 2017, I read my pleomorphic microcalcs were over 60mm (6cm) in one breast and 30mm+ in the other I about flipped. I thought WTH?? HOW??? Dr. Google was NOT my friend....I literally sat on my sofa and stared into space night after night after night until I got to my Breast Surgeon. I know it sounds so unbelievable and the beginning is just that....shocking and hard. IDC may not be found along the entire length of your microcalcs. So try to breathe and have faith that it isn't what you are thinking. In addition, I have seen other ladies with large tumors on these boards that are thriving, and I am hoping they will be along soon to share. I am sending cyber hugs Fritz...

Please wait for the surgery and node testing before you go to the dark side. The pathology report will give all the info so you and your doctor can decide the best path of treatment.
