Nipples ....

Thanks, Coach Vicky! I’m going to cut and paste the info into a document and take it to our staff benefits specialist.
-
I’m almost five years out from my Vinnie’s. I, too, have shown them to waaay to many people. I have not noticed any fading at all. I have some scar tightening across the top of the boobsand it is disforming in the upper pole. But I don’t care at all. Best thing about it is I never, ever, wear a bra.
-
Farmer Lucy, can you tell us what you mean by "disformimg in the upper pole?" I'm still learning the lingo here.
-
Those with nipples over scars and implants, did your PS tell you how it works if in the future they need to swap out implants? Do they make a new incision somewhere else?
-
Meg2016,
I asked my PS about that. He goes into the original scar line. He said there was enough room on the sides by my armpits to removed an implant and replace it. It would not affect to tattoos.
32B,
I hope you get your answer. I don't know what the "hotdog" effect is. There seems to be some slang terms I can't find a definition for.

Silicone Sheets are available from CVS. Product is called SCAR AWAY. You wear them 23/7, then take them off, shower and reapply the same sheets. You do this for 2 weeks then change the sheets for new. Good luck.
-
You might want to ask your PS about the silicone sheets he/she recommends -- mine knows the whole lot of them and has chosen his preferred brand. I have to admit, it's much better quality than I was using at first (from the pharmacy/drugstore). I just don't know if they're marketed in the States.
-
I agree with Sweet Pea...my surgeon has me using Cica care sheets...I cut to size and I just love them! Super high quality and they make a difference. My PS gave me a sheet and then said I could get them from him or order off amazon. Much better than any junk from store I bought in the past. ( note: I have a new PS, my original surgeon and I broke up)
-
Ladies, I just got my silicone nipples in the mail from Naturally Impressive. I may go to Vinnie in the long run, but I'm still waiting to get my TE swapped out for a permanent implant, so I figured I would try something that would make a good temporary fix.
I LOVE the quality. They look very realistic. A little disappointed in not being able to perfectly match my natural nip, but I think if I had two matching silicone ones I really wouldn't be able to tell the difference in the mirror.
Randi who runs the business answers calls herself and is great for a consultation on what you need. Price point is always very reasonable

I wish I had known about this early on. I think it would have helped me feel more complete all along the way. Thanks for posting, Coach Vicky
-
32B, I'm so happy you're happy! I wish I could take advantage and order one, but I'm still healing my scar with silicone strips, so I think I have to wait until that part is over. Good to know, though!
-
Sweet Pea, if you're interested in this option I would definitely recommend doing research early. There are a few different companies out there. I'm sure it feels like the day will never come when you can get your nips back, but it will and you'll want to be ready!
-
Whats cool about the silicone is you can experiment on nipple placement for your tattoos. My Plastic surgeon put my nipple a little more to the right than I would have liked . yes it is centered but my breasts don't wiggle and so my nipple looks a little off.
-
I actually have a tiny bit of areola left behind which kind of dictates where things can be placed. I'll be interested to see how Vinnie's team can work with it.
-
I had a breast lift 2 weeks ago to non cancer breast for symmetry all went well apart from the pain of the incision is very bad, the surgeon went at the nipple again he put something in to try pop the nipple he made out as it had flattened its still not sticking out much but not totally flat if I'm wearing a top no bra I've a nipple I'm very happy with this and I'll get a tattoo maybe hopefully October when it's 2 years since diagnosi
-
Has anyone on the west coast found a nipple tattoo artist that they would recommend? Vinnie sounds amazing, but would rather stay on the west coast if possible. Thanks,
-
vinnie comes to california twice a year

Thank you Janedtanned and Exercise guru. I haven't had my exchange surgery yet, just planning ahead.

has anyone had a nipple tattoo on your breast that wasn't a reconstructed breast I had nipple removed and a nipple reconstructed nipple I'm due to get a tattoo in November in hospital it's an hours drive away Ive never had a tattoo so I'm wondering will this be painful and if I can drive myself home afterwards, sorry if that's a stupid question
-
Lorri70, My nipples were my first and last tattoo, LOL! I have sensitivity so, yes I felt the tattooing. Looking back I don't remember the hurt. At the time, I did and it was worth every string to have what I have now. My husband drove me. I guess I could have driven.
Coach Vicky
-
Lorri70, I felt some pressure but no pain. It took about 15 minutes for both!
-
thanks girls I'll let you know how I get on

Any tips and info, experiences, as you've tried to get 3-D tattooing covered by insurance, especially Blue Cross? I'm driving to Birmingham in 2 weeks for my appt. According to the Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998 we all have the right to have this covered! I need advice - BCBS just laughed when I tried to pre-certify....and I do have a letter of medical necessity from my PS, am paying up front then filing a claim and appealing till they "get it." I need advice for you wise women, though! Thanks!
-
sooahnjoi- check in with Coach Vicky. She got it covered but idk who her insurance is
-
I have TRICARE Prime (military insurance from my DH).
They "lost" the first submission for payment despite me having a signed receipt.
I have submitted again. I call often and my submission is not in the system.
If I get reimbursed, I will let all know.
Coach Vicky
-
Get the name of the person at BCBS who laughed and report them to higher authority at BCBS. There is no reason for that to happen except uncaring stupidness.

I am with Blue Cross in Florida and I am getting my 3D tattoos in November 15th, and Blue Cross is covering this expense. I am having them done by a tattoo artist who trained under “Vinney”. It will be done in my PS’s office. She comes to their office one week a month. I have also met my deductible and out of pocket expense for this year
-
Bella, it's good that you're having them done in a surgeon's office. One of the problems with my submission to BCBS was that they keep insisting since I didn't have it done in a doctor's office, it would be out of plan, so they wouldn't cover it. I went to a tattoo artist in Richmond who is known for doing 3-D tattoos for mastectomy patients. She filled in all the right codes on the invoice, but they still won't cover it.
