Lung Mets
I have a question. Has Anyone had symptoms of lung mets before the persistent cough? I am having slight symptoms like: slight pain when I take a deep breath, usually followed by a cough. When I drink, I get a slight pain in the back of my throat (not sore throat pain). It somewhat feels like chest congestion, but I am not congested.
Anything sound concerning

Hello Lori
Yes. Turned out to be sarcoidosis.
I also got asthma before, during and after.
Not everything is cancer.
But if you're worried, have a chat with your GP.
Good luck - and have hope.

Mymets we're extremely tiny so it made it difficult to say cancer for sure but they have begun to disappear with treatment. I had no symptoms but they were really tiny. Found with pet scan when tumors were found in my back because of pain.

joe777,
Do you mind if I asl, Can you describe the tumors in your back?
-
Hi Bevin, my report read large destructive lesion in L5 vertebrae, destructive lesion in left sacral - 3.2x4.3 cm - and left posterior ileum. 5 tumors active. They lie along the sacrum/iliac joint. Extremely painful before treatment. No problem sharing. Hope your not in this boat too. J

Did anyone have pain in the upper back (shoulder blade area) from their lung mets? I have tried massage and physio therapy for my pain with no luck, wondering if the lesion on my lung is the cause of the pain.
-
i had zero pain with lung mets but they are very small
-
Thanks JoE. The one I have is 1.25 cm, so small as well. They really are not sure what it is and just following up with it every 6 months.

Hi Lori,
Just wondering how you are doing? I have similar symptoms and also shortness of breath.

I've been having a pain between my shoulders for a couple of weeks. It started out just hurting when I would lay down at night and put pressure on my shoulder. Now it has gotten progressively worse to the point of hurting all the time. It's a pain like I have never had, a burning pain. I have a CT scan of my chest scheduled for next week as well as a bone density scan. I'm really nervous and more than a little scared.
-
Hoping the CT gives answers, not related to cancer. Let us know how it hoes

Thanks, KBeee! I will! I do feel better after seeing my PCP Friday afternoon. She feels like it's a muscular issue. She had me reach across my chest with my right arm and she was able to find the pain on the muscle by the shoulder blade. But she said definitely go ahead with the CT scan to be sure. I've been able to relax alot about it since seeing her.

Good news!! My scans were clear!! The CT showed a nodule on my lung & a lesion on my liver. But those were present on a CT scan from 2011 (6 years pre-diagnosis) with no change to this CT. So he said they were nothing to be concerned about. The bone density scan was within normal range. No signs of cancer or osteoporosis. So all in all great news!!
Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes!!

My back and the area between my shoulder blades only hurt the day of treatments. No pain at all prior...had some wheezing but I do have asthma also

Great news about hte scan!!!!!

MO called me this morning. He has never called me in the 6 years I have been seeing him. Apparently my ca-29-29 is 67 and my CEA is 11. I was asking him yesterday what early signs of lung mets could be. Sometimes it hurts (not bad) when I take a deep breath and I have a funky cough that happens more at night. he did not think it was anything major. Now he called today and told me my numbers and asked if I was smoking. I said no. Needless to say we are doing a pet scan asap. Anyone have similar numbers?

My doc unfortunately does not do tumor markers because he says there are so many false positives. (I wish he did though). Hoping yours is a false positive. I know many things can cause them to rise.
