Hello, all. I know every patient is different, but I'm puzzled. I had a routine mammogram last Monday immediately followed by ultrasound. The radiologist said, "We'll assume the worst and expect the best," then I was sent to the breast surgeon all in the same day. MRI last Friday, and today I got a call that, "the radiologist did see something..." and another ultrasound and a biopsy scheduled for Thursday. I don't understand why another ultrasound after I've had one and why after an MRI? Any insight? I totally forgot to ask in my confusion. Thank you.

I’m sorry I haven’t had that experience but I can only guess it’s to confirm or not what the radiologist saw/suspects. It does seem like they should have a definitive DX from the MRI but apparently they don’t.

    Keep us posted.

I would guess that it's an ultrasound guided biopsy. They will use images from both the US and the MRI to pinpoint the area that they feel needs to be biopsied.

Good morning. I agree that it's probably an ultrasound guided biopsy. Sending good wishes to you for benign results.

I guess it turned out that we had to do another US first, then the technician brought in a radiologist to do an US and then they did a core biopsy. So everyone was right at some point today! Thank you all for your insight.
