Had my biopsy today--now the wait begins!

The "fun" began several weeks ago when I discovered a small, hard lump in my right breast. I honestly thought it would go away. Of course, it didn't. So, I asked my husband if he could feel it. When he felt it too, I knew I had to get it checked out.

I made an appointment with my doctor and he immediately referred me to a 3D mammogram and ultrasound with orders for a biopsy, if they found anything suspicious. So, a few days later, I had those tests.

After my ultrasound, they recommended a biopsy of the lump. But, the doctor told me that he did not think it was serious, they just wanted to be sure.

I went in for my biopsy today. I had a core biopsy and let me just say, biopsies aren't fun, y'all!! The doctor who did mine didn't numb me completely! But. . .It's over, and now I'm just waiting for official results. It is amazing how finding one little lump can shake things up so much! But, here I am. Waiting for results. Thanks for letting me have a safe place to write/vent/wait!

I'm waiting too. It's so hard. In my case they found a cluster of microcalcifications on my mammogram. They seemed fairly hopeful that it would turn out to be no big deal, or an early stage at the worst, so I'm clinging to that. But it's so hard.

Vent away! Positive thoughts to you!

PurpleCat- Yes! I know what you mean. It's great to know that they don't really think it's very bad news. But, it's also do hard, because we won't really know for certain until we get our results. The wait is so nerve-wracking! Wishing you the very best, but I'm sorry you are going through this too! Thanks so much for reaching out!

I'm sorry anyone has to go through it! I'm certainly glad we have this test that can save lives and catch things early, but everyone says the waiting is the hardest part. Once you know what it is and have a plan you can move forward and get on with it. But now? I don't even know if I'm going to be able to attend my planned evening activity because unless I get good news in the next couple of hours I'm just going to be waaaaaaayy too distracted to be of any use.

    Hang in there ...

DeeDeeT, Waiting is the worse! And I just have to say, I agree with the pain part! I did not get numb for my core needle either, that sucker hurt! Recently had a vacuum assisted biopsy and felt nothing! Hope both you and PurpleCat don't have to wait too long for the results. So sorry you are both going through this. The waiting can be scary as hell. I did not follow this advice but wish I would have, stay away from Dr. Google!!! Best to you both!

Thanks for stopping by and making my wait more pleasant! Now, I wish I was still waiting for that first call. . .

This morning I received a phone call from the nurse that my results showed cancer. I'm really in shock. I had been told by the radiologist that examined my reports that it looked like "a clump of fibrous tissue." He recommended me for a biopsy just be safe. So, I'm still reeling over here. I thought I'd be checking out of this site, but now I'm signed up for an MRI on Wednesday and a meeting with a whole team of doctors on Thursday.

So, I'm waiting again. . . .but this time even more afraid. Sigh.

Hang in there, DeeDee. Don't do any research until you get YOUR specific details. There are something like 22 different kinds of cancerS that affect the breast. When you get on those details, then you will better know what to search for.

Thank you, Marie! The waiting is hard, but you are so right! I really can't research this, because I just don't have any information yet. The waiting is difficult, but I think I'll try to enjoy this time the best I can.

I the same I had a biopsy yesterday on a small 1cm lump in right breast doctor told me not to worry it was a cyst but I asked for a ultrasound anyway the doctor said it wasn’t needed and to wait 30 days I said no I’m not happy waiting as my mum nan aunt have all had breast cancer I was panicking so reluctantly she booked me for ultrasound

Had ultrasound yesterday straight away she said I will take 3 biopsy’s so I said it isn’t a cyst then and she shook her head. Then got taken to the quiet room and began to panick it was only 18months ago I was in there with my mum hearing the worst news. Was told by the consultant it was 1cm and the gland under armpit was all clear but that’s all she could tell me.

I now have to wait until 26th for results I’m so worried I’m not eating sleeping etc.

Thankyou for your kind words I’m really struggling with what’s going on right now. I’m only 34. I know all you ladies have been through the same and I’m feeling some comfort in reading your posts etc. Makes me realise I’m not alone and it is treatable.

I’m going on like I’ve already been diagnosed. I wish Saturday I asked more questions but I was in shock with the quiet room and having the biopsy it was all so much in the space of an hour. Do they do biopsy s because they know it’s cancer but want to be sure? Do something biopsy sure come back benign? So many questions I have going around.

I look at my children and cry I’m not ready to leave them.....sounds so stupid but these are my thoughts. Just need the next ten days to hurry up so I know and can approach it however it turns out. The wait is horrible.

Sending love and hugs to all xx

I e been told most do but I think I’m fretting more because there’s family history. This is all so much to take on and hate having to wait expecting the unknown
