A little Anxious, Help me Interpret Results Please?
Hi everyone! Thank you for all your posts and replies. They're comforting to read at times when I need them. I'm 40 yrs old. At 34, my OB said my left breast felt "thicker" than my right breast so he sent me for a diagnostic mam and U/S. Everything was fine, I have extremely dense breasts and apparently my left one was just more dense. Skip to this week, I had my first screening mammogram. Literally the next morning, my FollowMyHealth app (which I love and hate) flashed ABNORMAL MAMMOGRAM, which freaked me out! The details read:
Comparison 2/17/12
Findings: The breasts are extremely dense, which lowers sensitivity of mammography. Benign calcifications noted. No suspicious findings in the Right breast. No significant changes in the Right breast.
There is an asymmetry in the posterior Left upper breast, seen only on CC view and projecting in the left lower outer quadrant. There is an asymmetry in the posterior Left upper breast, seen only on MLO view and projecting in the left upper inner quadrant.
IMPRESSION: Incomplete evaluation of the Left breast.
BIRADS ASSESMENT CATEGORY: 0
RECOMMENDATION: Unilateral left diagnostic mammogram; left breast ultrasound.
-------------------------------------------
So I pretty much get it, but what haunts my brain is Why is this incomplete? Did they see something suspicious in the left breast that they want to investigate further, or would that be written on the report? Or is it the asymmetry alone that makes it incomplete?
I haven't received a call from my doctor yet, so I'm just trying to understand it better on my own. Not the best idea, I know. What should I expect going forward? Any replies would be helpful.
Thanks!!

It’s incomplete because of those 2 views on the left that they can’t see clear enough. Birads of 0 is very good sign. Ultrasound just to get a clearer look on the left. They’re being thorough which is what you want.

CarFal,
I concur with Lula. It's incomplete because the the density of your breast tissue so they want to do more. They are doing exactly what they need to do.d Don't panic.

Thanks for the replies! They're very helpful. Do you know if I should receive a call or a letter (or both) regarding this?
All the best!

I'm re reading your post, and I think it's a good sign that this thickness was noticed earlier and cleared, and that the mammogram doesn't say masses or calcificatio
