Hang in there. I am a year and 3 months out from diagnosis and doing well. I have had a few teary days though and it's completely normal. You can do it! Sorry you are here with us and I can only imagine what a shock it was to get this kind of diagnosis so soon after having a child. There is such a focus on TNBC right now and so many new treatments being researched, I have a lot of hope and you should too!

that’s great to hear thank you!! I was doing so well, I have my 4th round of AC this Friday and since last night I just lost it. So frustrating since I was handling it all so well

Hang in there, it gets better!
If you fill out diagnosis in your profile and then change the settings on the community boards to make it public, it will show up in your sigline and we can share more specific tips relating to your chemo protocols.
Consider joining the month specific chemo threads (starting in Aug or Sep) and also this thread which has a lot more activity https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/72/topics... -
just did it, thank you!! This is all new so I’m kind of terrible trying to figure out the we

I cannot imagine the timing of your diagnosis, nor trying to deal with an infant while undergoing treatment. Sending a hug and courage to you. I am TNBC also, and also at the beginning of treatment.
A good thing to remember is that TNBC recurrence drops way down at about 5 years. Our job is to kill "the little assholes" (as a friend of mine put it) and keep them dead for 5 years. Then we get to be done, and leave cancer in the rearview. Lean into your treatment. You have the best reason of all to do so, and to live a long time.
There is a lot that you can do with diet and lifestyle to boost your odds, build your health, and protect yourself. Posted about that in the other thread. Good luck to you!

yes! 5 years can’t come soon enough yet I want it to go slow because I don’t want my baby to grow up haha I have my 4th of 16 round on Friday. I’m looking forward to beating this thing and celebrating!!

I just don’t want to change everything about me, I don’t wanna stop eating what I like, I eat healthy but I do enjoy snacks and all. It’s hard to try and deprive yourself of the things you once enjoyed to improve your odds

smansmom, sorry ur here but very glad u found this forum. I'm TNBC as well just finished chemo end of Aug. Waiting for surgery Oct. & i always tried to stay positive, some days it's hard and I cry. Then regain my thoughts and know I'm going to beat cancer. Oh, and the staying health is tuff during chemo as well, I craved something sweet at times, or greasy to go burger.. You have to do what's best for you. There's a ton of information on here. Take one day at a time, and ask questions when u need.
Btw, Moth is right did u find a month chemo group to join? Im in the April 😉, and its help me so much bcuz the group goes thru common thoughts, feels, and Side Effects together..
We are all here for each other! Cyber hugs

smansmom,
Don't beat yourself up over diet. I met with a nutritionist at a cancer research hospital and she said during chemo to just do your best and the main thing is to eat, even if it is not the healthiest. When you are going through chemo, it can be so hard to find your appetite, so just making sure you are getting something down is the most important thing. She also said that there is no food that will cure your cancer and you should just try to take small steps with eating better. For example, if you don't normally eat a lot of vegetables, just try to add one to your dinner every night. It sounds like you normally eat healthy, so I don't think a snack now and then is going to make or break you. Remember, we have to enjoy life too and if we are too hard on ourselves we tend to just give up.
Hang in there.

smansmom - I was always healthy. Been a vegetarian for years, run 15 miles per week and walk about 25. Have never been overweight. Only drink in moderation and I got this crap cancer. My friends and famil were stunned, as was I.
During chemo I ate what Icould. Never a soda drinker, cherry coke was the only thing that tasted good. I craved meat, so I ate turkey and chicken. Listen to your body and don’t fret.
I actually eat more snacks now than I used to - why not? I’m back to my running schedule, but I’m much easier with myself when it comes to my diet. If I want a piece of cake for breakfast I’m eating it!!!
-
@VL22 same here!!! I’m a runner and super as well, always ate healthy and I don’t drink soda or fast food. I feel the same way now during chemo , you totally get it!!! My entire family was shocked I’m the healthiest one in my family, it makes no sense.
-
smansmom and VL22- I never thought I would get cancer. I've been a vegetarian almost my whole life. I'm an avid Runner and power walker. I've never been overweight. I've never smoked. Minimal drinking. During chemo food tasted so metallic, I ended up drinking a lot of Gatorade and eating whatever I could tolerate. I have never liked Gatorade. I dislike sweets and salty foods. But during chemo Gatorade was my lifesaver. We do what we have to do to get through this mess.
-
@jo6359 you are so right! I actually bought Gatorade too because the water is making me want to throw up. It’s crazy, my entire family is in shock because I’m the healthiest one and very active, always doing physical things. This whole thing just still blows my mind. Just finished my last AC treatment and starting taxol in two weeks, hopefully it gets easier For me. I had the worst day/night ye

I had a double mastectomy before I started chemo and my breast surgeon just felt a large lymph node where my tumor was. She is having it ultrasound, I am starting to panic again ;(

Hello everyone,
Five years ago my doctor told me that I didn't need to have my mammograms anymore. I'm 52 and my mother had breast cancer so I thought that this was weird but still did the law of the Herd. Biggest mistake of my life!
This July I was diagnosed with stage IIIC breast cancer triple negative. Hers 1 and 2 neg I don't carry the gene.
When they told me I thought you have the wrong lady I'm healthy!!! I just had all of my blood work done in the spring no sign of cancer. I went in to have a mammogram because my new Dr wanted one before I started seeing her. Well, they found something and did a ultrasound and then followed with the biopsy.
I have stage 3 what!!! Mammograms save lives. The radiation is no more than what you get from a microwave or dental x-ray.
I am going through chemo, mastectomy, and 36 radiation treatments.I have finished up 4 rounds of Adriamycin/ Cytoxan I had this every two weeks and Neulasta. I had many side affect from the chemo and medications given to me.
1.) Day one of Chemo- I felt fine. I was given medication for nausea and Adivan for Nervousness.
2.) Day two- Neulasta injection - I had nausea in am and felt very hot.
3.) Day three- Nausea and a lot of bone pain cause from Neulasta. I started to have a throat thickness start. Like vinegar in my throat.
4.) Nausea, Throat pain, loss of appetite, tightening in my chest. (I have asthma). Tiredness.
5.) Nausea, sores in my mouth and most of the sores came on in week two recovery week.
6.) Rash under my boobs and on tummy. Am Nausea, loss of Appetite,
7.) Am nausea, tired a lot, starting to eat again (food taste like tin. very weird),
The next week was pretty good other than I had sores in my mouth and throat. (I used Chlorahexidine rinses), I was tired but tried to walk my dog everyday. x 2. I would get out of house as much as I could.
I have had really bad constipation with each round. I'm on Miralax and stool softeners 4 a day. (Each time its like the chemo and meds shut down my bowel for up to 1 week to 10 day.) this last chemo I thought that I was going to die from the pain in my stomach due to constipation. (I now have sodium citrate to drink.) I suggest drink 1 whole bottle.
I also lost both of my big toe nails. They started to have a lot of pressure under them for about 1 week so I went to a foot doctor and he had to remove them. I'm just now getting healed up it was very painful..
I went yesterday to the urologist because I do get Kidney stones and I have a whole bunch of them that I'm now scheduled to have surgery to have them removed due to the fact I'm starting to have pain in my Kidney.
I start my Taxol/ Carboplatin on this coming Thursday. I'm nervous to see how this is going to go due to all the side affects that the AC brought on. I have 12 weeks of this every Thur.
.
on a good note they say it should be easier than AC...I'm also very nervous to have a surgery and chemo too in the same week. Please pray for me and for God to give me strength and His Grace.
In Dec. I will have a double Mastectomy and then start the Radiation. I have so many feelings about this journey and love to read everyone else's journey.
I have a parathyroid issue That is why I get the stone in my kidney so after all of this I will look at getting my parathroid out and Reconstruction of my breast.
I can't wait to have my health back because up until now I've been so healthy never needing any Meds. Sometimes we take our health for granted and I guess I did just that. I'm 52 and very active. I manage dental clinics and have raised two children and have two grandchildren. My husband is my strength everyday to keep going....I love him so much.....
I can tell you some days can be very dark while going up against this monster called breast cancer. any stage is so lonely..... please keep a health mind and reach out to people whom love you because that is our strength against this awful disease.....
I will continue to share my Journey so that I can help other with the what ifs and all the side affects you can have with the many meds that they are putting into our bodies.
I will pray for each of you in my prayers and please add me to your list...
God Bless,
Teresa
