Had my appointment this morning and wasn’t surprised when they told me the spiculated mass they saw on my mammogram was in fact cancer.

I’m 37, and my sister was just diagnosed at 39 with stage 4 in June.

They never gave me all the Pathology results so all I know is I have IDC in my left breast. Aside from that’s waiting to hear when my insurance approves everything so I can have my MRI and my Oncologist & Surgeon appointment. Just really want to get things going ASAP

Not sure how I feel yet... I knew what it was when I read the mammogram report. But hearing it be official is a bit different. Then knowing what I have is likely nothing compared to what my sister is dealing with.

    Dear Kista,

    I want to send my thoughts and prayers to you and your sister during this extraordinarily difficult time! I am 47 and was just diagnosed with IDC on Friday so I do understand the fresh shock of it all. But the added layer of your sister's diagnosis is so much more challenging for you and your family. I have only just joined this site in the last two days, but I am hopeful you will get good support and advice. Wishing you all the best!

    Kista - so sorry for you and your sister.

    I wasn’t surprised when I got THE call either but you are right hearing the DX aloud leaves no doubt. The initial shock wears off pretty fast when the process gets going.

    Does your sister have the same type of breast cancer? I had IDC too Stage 1b, Grade 1. I had a lumpectomy and 33 radiation treatments. That was 7 years ago.

    You can do this. So you and your sister keep the faith. There are many women multiple years out who have Stage IV BC.

    So sorry to hear about you and your sister. I am in the same boat. My sister has stage 4 and I had early stage 1 twice. I is always shocking and stressful. Do not compare your journey with your sister's.....you are both in this together now and my sister and I are very close and neither one of us knows what tomorrow will bring. They told me she would only have 2 years but she is now in her 4th year and still doing well. Enjoy each other's company, share your worries, your journeys

    I'm not sure what kind of cancer she has. She hasn't done much research and just kinda does what the voices tell her to do. I don't even know much about mine yet either. All I know is that it's IDC. I haven't gotten any info on the hormones, etc. 

    Glad to hear your sister is doing so well Bluepearl. We are still early with her but she seems to be doing great. 

    So far mine is still a big waiting game... waiting on insurance... waiting on the clinic to submit the prior authorization request... just ready to get things going and figure out what I can do.

    That’s great about your sister blue pearl. Doctors shouldn’t predict our demise or give us expiration dates because no one, not even them, know for sure.
