about a month month-and-a-half ago I started coughing for no reason. At first I thought it was just allergies. Went to my doctor's office and they couldn't find anything upon examination. By the way I quit smoking 2 years ago so they did a lung X-ray and my lungs are clear. The first doctor through CareSpot said that I had it at possible upper respiratory infection and placed me on antibiotics but after 2 weeks of the antibiotics I was still coughing and sometimes my voice would be horse. On my second doctor's visit they couldn't find anything either. The cough the doc said could be allergies. But we ended up having a discussion about two previous mammograms that came back abnormal. Abnormal because apparently I have very dense breast tissue and the doctors are concerned so I'm scheduled this Friday for a sonogram of my right breast and what they call a breast tomography. There is no bumps, swelling or redness in my breast but I've also had other symptoms that are hard to explain. Stiff neck and shoulder pain and itching in my back near my left and right shoulder blade. I have fatigue and constant body aches, joint and muscle. I have no history in my family on my mother's side of breast cancer and I do have aunt right now who's 78 who has breast cancer on my father's side near her collarbone but there's been no other history on my dad's side either. Signed worried!!!

Ps I'm 57

Dense breasts can raise the risk of breast cancer but it doesn't mean you will get it. I was told the MRI is the "gold standard" and in my case, ultrasound missed the cancer I had. I also had no cancer in my family. Cancer is a freakin' crapshoot.

I'm so sorry you are unwell otherwise...doesn't sound like cancer related, but I'm not a doc. THere's some nasty bugs going around and some of the symptoms are what you describe. I've read that some people have it for months. You could try antihistamines and see if the cough goes away...if yes, then you know it is allergies. Cough and getting hoarse can also be due to reflux/GERD. Some people have silent reflux with the main symptom being a constant cough.

The joint pain, neck pain could be as simple as how you are sleeping.

Best to you and I hope the ultrasound is reassuring and clean.
