    Junie I was at the optician (which I think is called something different in the US but DH is not here to ask. Is it optometrist?) yesterday and she was saying "I can see you eat a lot of spinach and broccoli" (about which she is correct). It has something to do with Lutein being great for eye health. So shovel on the broccoli I say!

    Going to have some broccoli with dinner tonight. I loved it even as a kid when I would ask my mom to make "Trees" for dinner. She never could figure it out until I pointed at a head of broccoli one day that she was going to cook for dinner.

    Another piece of my childhood is gone. Just heard from my hubby that he heard on the radio that Burt Reynolds has died at age 82. Always loved him in Smokey and the Bandit.

    Did anyone here watch him when he shaved half his mustache off on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show? So many good, fun memories.

    Loved his laugh. The bloopers in the end of Cannonball Run were the best, especially the ones with him and Dom DeLuise. Always cracked me up!

    Hello Everyone,

    I am healing well and the nerve pain is getting better, but tired. In my last post I said that I was starting a methyl-prednisone dosepak. On Saturday night I was sitting on my patio and felt some itching. My first thought was, "dang those mosquitos got me again!" Well on Sunday I discovered a bunch of itchy bumps on my lower legs and a few red itchy spots on my thighs. Long story short, on Monday, then Tuesday the red itchy bumps, spots, welts kept spreading. I called my MO and stopped by their office. They felt that I was having an allergic reaction to the oral antibiotic I was taking and had me discontinue it. I did, but the rash continued to spread & drive me crazy. Tuesday evening I had red welts spreading across & down 2 old scars from previous surgeries. This scared the blazes out of me, considering I've already been hospitalized twice in August for Cellulitis & Sepsis. I went to my local ER and my BP was 200/100. I get back into the room and disrobe, explained to the doctor whats been going on recently. He took one look at my skin and says "you have hives" from the methyl-prednisone or at the very least one of the preservatives or fillers in the medication. I've used this drug before, but not in the doses I was this time. Anyway, I stopped the methyl-prednisone and am taking Benadryl & Tagament (H2 & H1 blockers that work together to counteract the allergic reaction). Finally today I have some relief and the rash is receding. This is my first experience with hives and I hope the last. It is impossible to scratch your entire body even if it didn't also increase ones risk of infection from the scratching.

    I have an appt. on 9/21 with my MO. I really want to know if I am now NED since the tumor in my spine was Ablated and there is no sign of the cancer in the MRI or PET scans. Also, trying to decide if I'll take a break from the Ibrance, but continue the Faslodex. I'll see when I talk to the MO.

    Kirby came home looking like a Wild & Woolie little guy, but he had his grooming appt. last Wednesday and now he looks civilized and cute again.

    This evening I bought all the ingredients for the Broccoli Salad. Plan to make it tomorrow.

    micmel, I was pretty young myself when his movies came out. At least they were suitable for kids to enjoy with their parents =, not like some of the trash that comes out for movies today.

    Junie, Sympathies for the hives. You're right about the itching. Mine were a reaction to penicillin.

    Junie- I am so sorry for the problems you are having. I have had hives from medications before and it's awful. Feel better sister. I hope Kirby is doing well?

    Hello to Everyone!

    Queenie - LOL! I know. As I said, with having been in the hospital twice in August with Cellulitis & Sepsis that is where my mind went. What kind of infection is this NOW? Considering that, I guess hives was a lesser evil, but still crazy making. So thankful the Benadryl & Tagament worked.

    The weather here has been glorious the last couple days. I've had the windows open and this morning I sat on my patio enjoying my coffee and did a little bit of knitting. Tomorrow, a friend and I will be getting together to have lunch and see a movie. Then on Tuesday I will go and volunteer for the first time since the last week of July. I hear that I have a 4-5 inch deep pile of paperwork waiting for me. I am actually looking forward to getting back into it.

    As we all know, October is just around the corner and Halloween. I went to my recipes to start my list for ingredients to bake my Halloween cupcakes. I found a recipe online for Maple Pecan Cupcakes with a Butter Pecan Buttercream frosting. YUM! It sounds delish. Will add it to my list.

    Queenie - Say WHAT!!! LOL! Your DH is funny, NOT! But the benadryl & tagamet worked beautifully and I am now hive & itch free. So thankful. I wish there was some way to know before you take a drug whether or not you'll have an adverse reaction. Which reminds me, I need to call the FDA and make a report of my adverse reaction to the methyl-prednisone.

    Junie: I apologize--that was a joke from another thread, based on the common fear that if something goes wrong, some of us get sucked down the rabbit hole of 'OMG, it's a recurrence of cancer'. Chances are whatever-it-is isn't cancer and isn't related to cancer or cancer treatment. But that's not where our mind goes.

    Queen- so true about the worries about cancer. A PA I saw at the gyn office this week said "you can never really relax around this stuff". Touche.

    It is hard many to understand that cancer check ups and worries live on forever. I have had more than a few people say "you are all done with that now" and had to explain to them unlike many other things that get treated and better, cancer is always lurking in the background. They only get it said one time, after that, my eyes glaze over and I just move on......

    Junie- you sound a lot better friend. How is Kirby? I love the fall, but it is still a bit warm here. But I have been decorating at home with fall stuff. Halloween cupcakes sound divine.

    Queenie - There is no need to apologize! I was just being a little bit facetious. Actually my first thought with the hives (before I knew that's what it was) was that I had another serious infection, since I had already been hospitalized twice in August with Cellulitis & Sepsis. When the doctor told me I had hives and was allergic to the methyl-prednisone, I was surprised, but thrilled not to have another infection. Believe it or not. I have been stuck with so many needles in the month of August for IV's ( my veins SUCK!), blood cultures, Lovenox, Faslodex, Xgeva, etc. Now if the allergic reaction had moved into anaphylaxis that would have been a whole different story. But thankfully that didn't happen.
