How long does it take for swelling to subside after a bilateral mastectomy? My left breast has a bit of swelling. Nothing too significant, but I can still feel a slight difference. I had my surgery last March, 2017. There’s a small area of firmness on that breast... my BS is not concerned; I Made her do an u/s on me to be safe. She indicated it was just swelling.... but almost a year and a half post? This was the breast with DCIS in it

Sounds like you might have truncal lymphedema. You may want to ask for a referral to a lymphedema specialist. They can help you with massage and compression garments should you need them. I have truncal lymphedema and seeing a qualified therapist made a world of difference.

    Good luck.

Hello Robin0200! I have the swelling on my both breast, sometimes there is not any swelling. I had my surgery April 25th 2018 and i thought that the swelling should not be anymore. On the 11th of September i have follow up with my PS and I'll ask him. You have longer time then me post surgery and still have that problem. Let me know please if you find out anything. Thank you
